Group Financial Accountant | National Finance – Group Accounts | Western Sydney

We are seeking a talented financial accounting professional to join our National Finance – Group Accounts team based in Western Sydney. This is a 14-month fixed term contract offering the opportunity to play a key role in statutory reporting, compliance and balance sheet governance across Deloitte Australia.

This role sits at the heart of our financial control environment and offers exposure to senior stakeholders, tax specialists and global reporting requirements — making it an exciting opportunity for someone looking to deepen their technical expertise in a complex group structure.

What will your typical day look like?

In this role, you’ll be working across 20+ Deloitte entities, helping ensure our statutory accounts and compliance obligations are delivered accurately and on time. You’ll collaborate closely with Firm Tax, Indirect Tax, external auditors and our offshore Global Financial Services team to support high-quality reporting outcomes.

Day to day you will be preparing monthly accounts, reviewing inter-entity transactions, supporting consolidation processes, and contributing to tax reporting including GST and FBT analysis. You’ll also help drive continuous improvement initiatives, identifying ways to enhance reporting processes through better use of systems and technology.

About the team

The National Finance – Group Accounts team is responsible for controlling the Firm’s Balance Sheet and managing statutory and regulatory reporting obligations across Deloitte Australia.

It’s a collaborative and technically strong team that partners closely with tax, finance and global stakeholders to ensure compliance, accuracy and integrity in financial reporting. The team operates in a hybrid model from our Western Sydney office and plays a critical role in supporting senior finance leadership.

You may have all or some of the following skills / experiences:

• 5+ years of experience in financial accounting and external reporting

• Experience preparing statutory financial statements, ideally within a group environment

• Strong balance sheet reconciliation and consolidation capability

• Understanding of tax accounting requirements, particularly GST and FBT

• Experience working with ERP systems (SAP S/4HANA advantageous)

• Advanced MS Excel skills

• CA or CPA qualification (preferred)

• Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to communicate technical matters clearly

• Proactive mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving capability

• Ability to manage competing deadlines in a structured reporting environment
