Our Vacationer Program is a paid summer internship for 6 weeks offering real client exposure, project work, and structured onboarding. You’ll have a dedicated buddy, access to networking and social events, and the opportunity to be considered for an early Graduate offer.

About the team 

The Treasury & Risk Assurance (T&R) team are a specialist risk advisory and assurance practice providing services across credit risk, market risk, corporate treasury, and insurance risk. We advise and support Australia’s largest publicly listed companies, global corporations, and private businesses through integrated advisory and audit channels.  

Our capability spans all aspects of treasury and financial risk management, including credit provisioning, capital modelling, model validation, Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book (IRRBB), market risk, actuarial valuations, accounting and valuation of derivatives, hedging strategies, treasury technology, global cash management, outsourced accounting, regulatory advice and governance and controls. 

 

What will your typical day look like? 

Every day you’ll build your skills and knowledge through practical, hands-on experience.  You’ll work alongside professionals who are experts in their field, contribute to real client projects, and build your capability through feedback and support.

As a Vacationer in the T&R team, you’ll:  

  • Get immediate exposure working on real engagements/projects to develop, validate and enhance financial risk models
  • Gain hands-on experience in the valuation of financial assets with a strong focus on derivative instruments and hedging strategies used by financial institutions to manage market and interest rate risk
  • Work alongside experienced actuaries and financial risk specialists to evaluate actuarial models across major insurers testing data, assumptions and models for robustness

 

You won’t be expected to know everything from day one. You’ll be supported through structured learning, feedback and collaboration.

We’re seeking penultimate-year students to join our Vacationer program. You may have all or some of the following:

  • Curiosity and a genuine interest in learning
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset with enviable stakeholder engagement skills
  • Keen interest in analytical and complex quantitative work 
  • Confidence to ask questions and learn through feedback
  • Alignment with Deloitte’s values and inclusive culture
  • You’ll be studying towards a relevant degree in  Actuarial Science, Finance, Accounting Economics, Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Mathematics or Engineering
