We are seeking a Systems/DevOps Engineer to join our growing Generative AI & Assets team. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of cutting-edge technology within Deloitte. You will work in a start-up environment within a large, established organisation, playing a crucial role in building the biggest and best AI-driven assets in the firm. We are open to candidates based in Bendigo, Sydney, or Melbourne.

 

What will your typical day look like?
As a Systems/DevOps Engineer, you will bridge the gap between development and operations, ensuring seamless integration and delivery of software through automation and continuous deployment practices. This role is not just about managing infrastructure—it’s about driving change, automating processes, and making a tangible impact. You'll be part of a transformation effort, helping to shape and forge new paths while working on a broad range of assets.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD): Designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines to automate software deployment.
  • Infrastructure Management: Provisioning, configuring, and managing cloud infrastructure using tools like Terraform or Kubernetes.
  • Monitoring and Logging: Setting up and managing monitoring and logging systems to ensure system health and performance using enterprise tools.
  • Automation: Automating repetitive tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Collaboration: Working closely with development, QA, and operations teams to ensure smooth software delivery and deployment processes.
  • Security: Implementing security best practices and ensuring compliance with security policies, including managing secrets and credentials.
  • Cloud Expertise: Leveraging experience across various cloud providers including Azure, AWS, and GCP.

 

In addition, you will be accountable for:

  • Deployment Frequency: High frequency of successful deployments, indicating efficient CI/CD pipelines.
  • Deployment Time: Reduced time to deploy new features or updates, demonstrating streamlined processes.
  • System Uptime: High system availability with minimal downtime or disruptions.
  • System Performance: Enhanced performance metrics, such as faster application response times and improved resource utilization.
  • Automation Coverage: Increased percentage of automated tasks, leading to fewer manual interventions and errors.
  • Error Rate: Low failure rate in deployments and fewer post-deployment issues.
  • Security Compliance: Adherence to security standards and successful prevention of security incidents.

 

About the Generative AI & Assets Team
The National Generative AI and Assets team is part of Deloitte’s Strategy, Transformation & Innovation office. It is a strategic growth area that drives transformation across our largest and most critical client service offerings. Our focus is on leveraging Design, AI, and Software Development to drive business transformation with sustainable impact. By integrating exponential technologies into our service offerings and digital assets, we optimize productivity, enable smarter decision-making, and ensure our firm stays at the cutting edge of tech innovation.


Enough about us, let’s talk about you.
You may have all or some of the following skills/experiences:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience as a Systems/DevOps Engineer, preferably with a focus on Generative AI
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field is preferable
  • Experience with platform and software development, and release management in a mature managed services environment

 

Technical Skills:

  • Cloud technologies and platforms such as Azure or Amazon AWS
  • UNIX/Linux deployment and configuration management
  • TCP/IP networking, databases, messaging, and security
  • Knowledge of and experience with DevOps tools and techniques, such as Infrastructure as Code and Immutable Infrastructure
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub, ADO, ArgoCD, and DevSecOps technologies
  • Experience with writing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
  • Security protocols such as OAuth, SAML, or OpenID Connect
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds
