What will your typical day look like?  

We are seeking a Director, with in-depth experience in the Higher Education industry.  

As a Director, you will work with C-Suite level stakeholders and lead critical projects to develop new strategies, shape and deliver business transformation, and design operating models, seeking to shape and initiate strategic direction, define vision and choices, support performance and enable change. 

You will lead and learn from a group of experienced strategists and industry experts from a diverse range of backgrounds. You will demonstrate deep expertise within your chosen sector, and have a strong understanding of the relevant industry players, trends, dynamics and nuances. 

This knowledge should extend beyond theoretical awareness and include a demonstrated ability to integrate these insights into strategic recommendations that address operational complexities and emerging client needs. 

 

As a Director – Higher Education, your day-to-day responsibilities may include; 

  • Designing institution-wide as well as portfolio-specific (education, student, research, industry) strategies
  • Transforming business and operating models, enabled by technology, data and AI 
  • Creating innovation and venture propositions that drive sustained institutional value and student outcomes. 
  • Engage directly with senior clients across education and adjacent industries on their most important and challenging business issues. 
  • Build senior stakeholder relationships with education executives to identify and shape opportunities in the sector for Deloitte to deliver value and expertise. 
  • Build relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders to innovate across the higher education landscape. 
  • Work with a high-performing team with a strong commitment to excellence in pursuit of helping our clients drive quality, performance and student outcomes through their business operations.
  • Demonstrate an exceptional understanding of the pressures and opportunities facing the university sector. 
  • Understanding of key technologies, digitisation and AI impacts to the sector. 
  • This role requires proven people management capabilities, exceptional team leadership skills and the ability and desire to develop others in their careers. 
  • A commitment to collaboration with Deloitte’s unique capabilities in design thinking, digital, data and analytics, Deloitte Access Economics and experience from our global consulting network. 
  • Play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of our Strategy and Business Design practice. You will drive business development efforts and oversee the delivery of high-impact projects
  • Demonstrate an exceptional ability to quickly identify complex business challenges, combined with the ability to manage several client projects concurrently  
  • Foster a culture of growth by mentoring junior consultants, developing internal management consulting capabilities, and contributing to business development
  • Utilize data-driven approaches, including statistical analysis and modelling, to generate meaningful insights and guide business strategies.  
  • Craft clear and well narrated slides, transforming detailed technical findings into engaging presentations that inspire confidence and action among key stakeholders.

As a Director, you will likely possess a tertiary degree with an outstanding academic record, coupled with demonstrated strategy consulting experience in a Tier 1 consulting firm, strategy boutique or senior  internal corporate project advisory roles. In addition, you will demonstrate exceptional quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to exercise mature judgment. 

Given the stakeholder requirements associated with the role, you are likely to possess highly effective communication skills, allowing you to build trust and credibility with key stakeholders, driving key outcomes and developing new opportunities. 

Furthermore, you will demonstrate proven capabilities in team leadership, mentoring and people management, developing effective and efficient work environments, enabling others to work to the best of their abilities.
