Deloitte’s Private Tax Team offers you a compelling leadership role, working directly with some of Australia’s most prominent and sophisticated private clients across sectors including real estate, motor vehicle dealerships, professional services firms, retail, technology, and high net worth individuals. This is a unique chance to influence the future success of private businesses, family groups, and individuals through strategic, high-impact tax advice.

 

In your role you will be expected to demonstrate leadership with proven delegation experience, a genuine passion for your work, and a strong commitment to developing both your team and our client relationships.

 

You will play a pivotal role in mentoring and empowering a high-performing team, and modelling a positive, ambitious approach that inspires excellence. Your strategic influence and leadership will be instrumental in shaping both client outcomes and the growth trajectory of the team.

 

What will your typical day look like?

 

Each day brings variety and challenge, as you tackle complex tax transactions and advise on a diverse range of scenarios, from structuring investments to offering bespoke strategic tax guidance for Australia’s leading families. You will lead, actively delegate to empower your team, and maintain a sharp focus on quality and client satisfaction.

 

Working closely with Partners, you’ll help shape the strategic direction of our practice, advocate for the development and growth of team members, and cultivate an inclusive, positive culture where everyone feels valued. As you drive the team’s success, you will have the scope to advance your own expertise and leadership skills, positioning yourself for continued career growth within Deloitte, while benefiting from the mentorship and experience of Partners and industry leaders who are committed to your success.

Enough about us, let’s talk about you

 

As a Senior Manager, we’re looking for someone with the following attributes: 

 

  • Prior income tax experience (of at least 4 to 5 years) at a Big 4, mid-tier professional or accounting services firm
  • CA / Master’s of Taxation or equivalent qualification
  • Exposure to large private groups, multinational companies and private equity
  • Ability to build strong relationships with a range of clients
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment
  • As a self-starter you will have a strong track record of consistently driving results and taking the initiative
  • Ability to project manage and deliver multiple client engagements
  • Strong sense of team and desire to manage and mentor our upcoming talent through coaching and on the job training

 

The successful candidate will join as either a Manager or Senior Manager depending on their experience. Ideally, they will be located in Sydney.
