Join our Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) practice, engaging in project work with government and private sector clients nationally to support organisations protect their people at work, navigate complex HSW requirements, and create sustainable improvements in HSW performance.  

 

In addition to our bespoke HSW capabilities, our team is an integral part of our broader Sustainability and Modern Work, offering holistic Social Sustainability, Organisational Trust and Culture, Legal Compliance and Human Capital initiatives for our clients. 

 

Job Description: 

This position is based in Sydney and offers wide-ranging professional experience covering local, regional and national projects across all industry sectors, with the potential for international engagements. 

 

As a client facing HSW professional you will manage dynamic projects, leading multi-disciplinary teams to solve your clients most complex and strategic HSW issues including:  

  • Embedding proactive and positive leadership towards HSW matters within organisations. 

  • Designing and implementing HSW strategies, management systems, and performance and reporting frameworks that result in strong safety cultures. 

  • Profiling and articulating best practice approaches to the mitigation or appropriate management of physical and psychosocial risks 

  • Conducting audit and assurance of existing HSW practices to assess effectiveness in enabling desired outcomes. 

  • Supporting the identification and implementation of HSW technology solutions.  

 

This role involves navigating through complex scenarios with a degree of ambiguity and requires resilience and adaptability. Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams to deliver consulting work with various clients across industry sectors. 

  • Develop and implement HSW strategies and management systems. 

  • Conduct risk assessments, inspections, and audits. 

  • Engage in analytics, risk profiling, and benchmarking. 

  • Drive safety culture, leadership, and change initiatives. 

  • Develop tender responses aligned with client requirements and company capabilities. 

  • Supporting the ongoing career development of your HSW and Deloitte teammates. 

 

Enough about us, let’s talk about you.   
You are someone with:  

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in health and safety, occupational hygiene, engineering, environmental or health sciences (e.g., organisational psychology), or similar are desirable 

  • A Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or equivalent 

  • Auditing qualifications and or experience in ISO 45001 and ISO 45003 

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in HSW consulting or operational HSW management. 

  • A proven track record in project management and business development with the ability to prioritise, plan and deliver concurrent projects or initiatives. 

  • Experience with a variety of industries is crucial – our clients come from diverse backgrounds 

  • Strong knowledge of Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation, regulations, and management systems. 

  • Knowledge of the psychosocial risk legislative landscape, including Respect@Work is desirable but not essential. 

  • The ability to drive high performance from others by setting clear expectations and by providing robust, timely direction and feedback to help teams see how their individual work contributes to each engagement.   

  • Leadership skills and previous experience with developing the capability of individuals, and leading teams to deliver high quality client outcomes at more senior levels.
