About the team

Deloitte Debt and Capital Advisory comprises a team of highly experienced professionals based in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane with national client coverage. We are and linked to Deloitte’s global network of 180 offices around the world.

We advise a broad range of borrowers including ASX-listed and private corporates, private equity, real estate, infrastructure and government entities. We work closely with Board members, CEO’s, CFO’s and treasury teams in a range of industry sectors to provide advice across the full spectrum of debt and capital markets. We assist with debt and capital raising, debt refinancing and restructuring, credit rating advisory, as well as capital structuring and capital management exercises. Our advice covers a broad array of capital products including traditional single/multi-bank facilities, acquisition and leverage finance, project and asset specific funding, direct institutional lending, real estate development and construction financing, together with hybrids and equity.

Our team is the trusted financial advisor to many iconic corporate both listed and private, real estate sector and government clients across Australia having advised and arranged funding of over $12bn+ in the past several years.


What will your typical day look like?

This is an exciting opportunity to join a tight-knit and diverse team where collaboration and unconventional thinking drive success. In this role you will work closely with senior team members to support origination and execution activities and to craft innovative financing solutions to help our clients' meet their strategic goals.

This is a client facing role that will involve working on a range of Debt and Capital Advisory projects with regular interaction with clients, financiers (banks and non-banks) and other advisers and therefore you will have the chance to also build your communication and client management skills as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

What will your typical day look like ?

  • Undertake company, industry, and competitor research to support senior team members with deal origination and transaction analysis.
  • Assisting with day-to-day management of transaction processes, including the preparation of information packs, management presentations, term sheets, financial analysis and other client communications.
  • Financial modelling to support transaction processes including analysing business forecasts, scenario and sensitivity analysis and covenant calculations.
  • Contribution to marketing and business development activities including undertaking research and assisting in the preparation of client presentations and proposals.
  • Involvement in developing, coaching and motivating junior members of the team.

 

Enough about us, let's talk about you.

To be considered for this position, you should have at least 2-6 years of experience in Debt and Capital Advisory, corporate finance, corporate or investment banking related roles with associated hands-on experience in debt structuring, credit analysis and financial modelling. You should have pragmatic commercial acumen and an understanding of financial markets debt and capital-related products and trends across local and global debt capital markets.

You will also have:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and a natural aptitude for relationship building across external clients and internal stakeholders.
  • A sound commercial acumen and an understanding of financial markets, debt-related products and trends across debt and capital markets.
  • A commitment to, and proven experience in, delivering an exceptional service to clients, with an ability to work quickly and establish effective working relationships.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and proven project management and organisational skills.
  • An ability to effectively prioritise competing demands while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Self-confidence and the appetite to be involved in business and origination development activities including proposal writing and client presentations. Proficiency in using PowerPoint tools and features and experience in creating professional client proposals and presentations is essential.
  • Strong analytical skills and an understanding of financial statements and financial ratios. Experience with financial modelling and analysis, including proficiency in the use of Excel.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and staying up to date with industry trends and best practices.
  • A collaborative and team-oriented approach to work, with a willingness to support and mentor junior team members.
  • A degree in finance economics accounting or mathematics, and potentially studying towards a relevant post-graduate qualification (e.g. CA, CFA, or Masters in Finance).
