Infrastructure and Industrial capacity forms the backbone of our economy. Deloitte’s Infrastructure & Industrials (I&I) team works closely with private and public sector clients to generate a lifetime of value through investments in infrastructure and outsourcing of complex services contracts.

Whether we are supporting the delivery of infrastructure to sustain and build our lucky country and serve our citizens, unpacking data, sourcing technology solutions, addressing environmental sustainability requirements, or helping design responses to new security threats, our I&I team will provide you with the opportunity to work with governments and major private industrial clients in delivering the investments and services which nourish, protect and sustain our nation.

  • If you want to make a lifetime of impact on everyday lives?
  • If you want to influence the outcome of social and economic infrastructure and service delivery projects for governments, universities and major utility providers?
  • Would you like to work with some of the nation’s biggest companies across the transport, energy, property and defence industry sectors?
  • If you have what it takes to inform decisions on nation-defining projects and life-changing services, then help to deliver them?

Then a role in our Sydney-based Infrastructure & Industrials (I&I) Commercial & Strategy (C&S) team could be for you…

What will your typical day look like?

Expect to work closely as a trusted advisor to Government departments and major industrial companies, and help address ‘front-page’ and ‘big-ticket’ issues related to social and economic infrastructure and complex services.

You will also be making a meaningful impact on the economy. Your work could cover the whole of a project’s lifecycle to inform major decisions and implement complex projects, from policy development and business cases, through to procurement, implementation, and delivery.

  • analysing health and education infrastructure portfolio performance and future requirements using the latest tools and technologies
  • advising major transport companies on how best to reorient their fleets to use more sustainable fuels and/or electrify
  • undertaking analysis to consider where the next rail line should go, working with government and community stakeholders, considering the social, economic and environmental impact of different options to determine an optimal outcome
  • working with a team, including architects, engineers, lawyers and people across multiple areas of government and the private sector, to run an international tender process involving major global companies at the forefront in their fields and negotiate great public outcomes and value for money from complex service contracts such as for transport operations, airports, healthcare or defence
  • undertaking commercial and financial analysis, designing commercial frameworks such as performance and payment arrangements, and developing and delivering procurement strategies to optimise competitive processes

  • Excellent communication and writing skills, including the ability to prepare a range of different documents, and write in different styles for different purposes and audiences (e.g. technical reports, briefings to executive decision makers, succinct summaries of complex issues in lay’s terms, visual materials to support stakeholder engagement activities with a variety of audiences).
