About the Team
Our Government & Public Sector actuarial team helps clients to harness the full potential of their data, generating actionable insights, informing evidence-based policy and  sustainably improving social outcomes for all Australians.


Joining Deloitte Actuaries & Consultants you will become part of Deloitte Consulting’s Strategy, AI and Transformation portfolio which provides the opportunity to work on a wide variety of innovative and transformational projects providing clients with a full range of advisory and consulting services across the Government and Financial Services.


Deloitte Actuaries & Consultants has achieved significant growth over recent years creating several new opportunities in our expanding Government & Public Sector team.


About the role:

As a Government & Public Sector Actuarial Senior Manager in Deloitte’s Actuaries & Consultants practice, you will assist Deloitte Partners and Principals in providing strategic and technical consulting services and support business development efforts for Federal and State government departments and other government & public sector entities.

Deloitte’s Actuaries & Consultants are participating in the development of evidence-based policy, the development of new and innovative service delivery models, and the transition of payments from paying for what is done to paying for the value provided.


These types of problems require actuaries who are not only technically strong, but also can be innovative, capable of addressing complex problems with significant uncertainty bringing a strong business acumen and industry sector understanding.


About you

Critical to your success will be your knowledge and experience as follows:     


  • 8+ years or more actuarial work experience, or equivalent data analytics, statistical modelling or quantitative consulting experience within one or more of the following sectors:
    • Health
    • Human services
    • Defence
    • Transport
    • Federal / State agencies
    • Justice
    • Education
  • Demonstrated existing client relationships and/or ability to develop client relationships within Government & Public Sectore
  • Business development experience (Pre-sales, proposal and RFP)
  • Experience mentoring and coaching others
  • Experience leading teams and managing client/executive relationships
  • Strong understanding of actuarial methodologies, financial drivers and the relevant regulatory standards.
  • Understanding of the application of a range of data analytics and statistical modelling tools (i.e. SAS, R, Python, etc.) to solve complex client issues
  • Ability to communicate complex / technical issues to non-technical audiences
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Adaptable and responsive to a continuously changing environment.
