What will your typical day look like?

Reporting to the Director of SOC Engineering, the Onboarding Engineer is responsible for designing and deploying key components of the MDRS service while setting the tone for a strong, trusted relationship with each customer.

On a given day, you will:

  • Design, configure and validate SIEM/XDR onboarding components and data connectors (Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk, Defender XDR, CrowdStrike), including analytics, ingestion pipelines and health checks.
  • Perform environment readiness assessments, validate telemetry quality and log integrity, and recommend fixes for gaps in identity, infrastructure, logging or endpoint telemetry.
  • Troubleshoot onboarding blockers (connector failures, permissions, ingestion delays, configuration conflicts) and manage vendor support and technical escalations.
  • Implement access provisioning, RBAC modelling (Entra ID/Azure RBAC, permissions, PIM, service principals), and ensure least privilege role scoping.
  • Own the end to end onboarding lifecycle: plan, implement, verify, document and hand over to operations, coordinating with SOC, Infrastructure and platform teams.
  • Maintain and improve onboarding playbooks, runbooks, templates, architecture diagrams and client handover packs to increase scalability and consistency. Every-day balances hands-on engineering work, technical problem solving, structured documentation, and meaningful client interaction as you bring new customers safely and successfully onto the MDR service.
