Deloitte’s specialist Treasury and Risk Assurance team consists of 75 professionals across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane offers our insurance, banking, government, and corporate clients service offerings through both advisory and audit channels. The team is going through an expansion with our banking, insurance, and investment sector clients as we provide advice on: 

  • Insurance, banking and superannuation pricing and valuation support for valuation team and audit support. 
  • Financial risk management solutions including market risk, liquidity risk, funding and refinancing risk, and credit risk. 
  • Insurance, banking and superannuation governance, controls and regulatory support for markets and treasury divisions (including APRA, Basel and IOSCO regulations and standards)

We are looking for individuals with a minimum of 5 years of relevant insurance valuation, pricing or consulting experience, to work collaboratively with our Directors and Partner. The role is primarily focused on insurance valuation audit support and broader market risk advisory, there will also be work through project and internal audit reviews with leading clients. Our people work across all the above service offerings from time to time and we will invest in your training and support you in the market with methodologies, tools and innovative ways bringing value to our clients. 
  To be considered for this opportunity, your experience may include: 

  • Suitable candidates will have a passion for general, life and/or health insurance. We are looking for individuals that have demonstrated experience in one of the following areas: valuations, pricing and risk management.
  • Knowledge and experience of Australian and/or international standards pertaining to actuarial valuation of insurance products.
  • Enjoy working with others collaboratively to bring the best of our firm, including internationally, to our clients.
  • Perform audits of actuarial liabilities for insurance entities, and other associated valuations.
  • Perform and/or Lead audits or parts of audits for insurance entities.
  • Proficiency in computer languages including Prophet, Python, CROS, SAS, SQL or R would be an advantage
  • Manage stakeholder’s expectation, including communicating with and reporting to internal engagement management team and external stakeholders.
  • Bachelor or higher degree in numerate disciplines such as Quantitative Finance, Economics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field would be valuable.
  • Be a Fellow of the Actuaries Institute of Australia, or international equivalent.
