We are looking for a highly motivated Manager – Energy Transition, who is passionate about reducing the impact of climate change by enabling the orderly transition of energy to lower carbon sources.


About the team  

 

The Deloitte Climate and Sustainability Team works with the Senior Executives, CEOs and Boards of leading corporations and start-ups, leading the global response to the climate transition. Working with clients, and not for them, we bring together multi-disciplinary teams of experienced innovators, entrepreneurs, strategists and climate and sustainability specialists to develop, launch and scale new solutions and ventures.

Operating as a low-leverage team environment, our Deloitte Climate and Sustainability practitioners work alongside Partners and senior members of the Firm, providing fast-paced, continuous learning and development opportunities.

A What will your typical day look like?

 

You will be part of our Strategy and Transformation Advisory team within our Deloitte Climate and Sustainability (DCS) practice, bringing your passion and drive to help our clients develop and execute strategies, positioning them for success in the energy transition. Example work could include:

 

  • Play an integral role leading large and complex projects whilst also supporting and driving sales initiatives within the business

 

  • Apply technical skills and knowledge to design and lead work streams, successfully managing project risks and financials along the way

 

  • Developing strong relations and rapport with both internal and external stakeholder, further enabling you to leverage client relationships to on sell work and shape new opportunities

 

  • Play a key role in developing strategy, designing business models and enabling transformation execution across Energy & Resources clients, particularly in Power and Utilities businesses who are responding to changes in how the energy market and power systems need to transform. This could include corporate and portfolio strategy, investment strategy and capital allocation, business transformation

 

  • Developing new low carbon business models within traditional energy companies (including carbon/environmental products trading, low-carbon energy products retail businesses, nature-based solutions for verifiable carbon offsets, and energy storage)

Here are some of the key requirements for the ideal candidate:

 

Essential:

 

  • Demonstrated strategy consulting experience in a Tier 1 consulting firm or strategy boutique

 

  • Ability to demonstrate a good understanding in some or all the following: Energy transition, Utilities and regulated industries, Future Nework Strategy and Transformation (including Distributed Energy Resources and Distributed Systems Operator shifts), Renewables sectors, Decarbonisation, Energy policy, Global energy issues, National Energy Market (NEM), Energy regulation, Climate change policies and the drivers of climate change

 

  • Demonstrated experience in some or all the following: Emissions Regulations, New Energies & Decarbonisation, Emerging Fuels (e.g. hydrogen, biofuels), CCUS and other net-zero technologies

 

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

 

  • Strong analytical skills and exceptional quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to exercise mature judgment.

 

Highly Desirable:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Law, Science, Engineering, Economics or related disciplines
  • Advanced post-grad preferred (i.e. MBA)
