Deloitte Digital is Australia's leading digital consultancy and design studio. Our Customer Strategy and Applied Design team is seeking a curious, committed, and passionate Junior Workplace Strategist & Designer to join our Experiential Design capability.

 

As a Junior Workplace strategist & designer at Deloitte Digital, you will undertake a broad role as a Consultant within our consulting practice working alongside a team of multi-disciplinary designers focussed on navigating the future of work, challenging the role of workplace and defining the future of employee experiences. You will work on a combination of internal and external projects from strategy through to conceptual design, providing strategic recommendations beyond the physical design itself to ensure an a holistic experience is delivered.

Within this practice, the Experiential Design capability is a team of designers and strategists who specialise in bringing business objectives, value and brand proposition to life through place-based experiences. We reimagine and redesign how people work, live, play, learn and connect using the 5 senses. We are passionate about the tangible impact physical experiences have on people and are proud to have worked on a number of award winning place based experiences.

 

Your responsibilities:

As an Experiential Design Consultant, you will be considered a safe pair of hands who can deliver solutions to complex problems, to high standards, and on-time.

 

You will need to:

  • Be on the pulse with the latest physical experiences and design trends across all sectors

  • Assist in the creation of assets using human centred design research methodologies including; observational studies, customer interviews, data analysis, workshops and prototyping

  • Synthesise, summarise and playback forms of qualitative and quantitative research to uncover insights, learn about user behaviour and verify design concepts.

  • Think broader than spatial design to articulate the people, process, technology, culture and change requirements that ensure success in place-based experiences

  • Makes concepts tangible through schematic planning, conceptual imagery, 3D visualisation and presentation

  • Design development to evolve concept designs for prototyping and/or implementation

  • Stay up to speed on furniture products in market and manage relationships with industry suppliers

  • Support across engagement management by applying your project management skills in scoping, designing, planning, and implementing projects

  • Take ownership for aspects of deliverables and outcomes, presenting solutions to problems and overcoming project barriers

  • Be excellent at self management, identification of tasks, priorities and need for support from your senior leaders

  • Ability to diagnose a problem, conduct analysis, and develop solutions for client problems

  • Look for opportunities to coach and upskill juniors across projects, collaborating and sharing knowledge for the betterment of each other and client outcome

  • Present elements of deliverables and outcomes to clients, team and senior leaders with clarity, engagement, and purpose

  • Contribute to the growth of the team and the Experiential Design capability through team events, meetings, templates and sharing of learnings and insights

  • Be inquisitive, in pursuit of patterns and paths; a storyteller, and a story-seeker

  • A lover of business – the rhythms, passions, and dynamics that make it work.

 

Your experience

 

Typically at this level you will have had experience in some of the below key aspect of the strategic design process:

  • An Architectural or Interior Design firm as a workplace strategist/ workplace designer (minimum 3-5 years)

  • Large scale workplace, precinct, campus or design projects from strategy to construction for top tier Australian firms or Global enterprise

  • Translating strategic business outcomes, drivers for investment and outcomes into place-based experience solutions

  • Assessing and understanding the impact of building localities, precincts and identifying the role of place to employees

  • Mapping teams, ways of working, patterns of collaboration and user journeys to inform spatial adjacencies, stack strategies and role of workplace

  • Developing kit of parts, spatial budgets, and crafting workplace design concepts including look and feel presentations and mood imagery

  • Facilitating sessions and capturing detailed data to inform functional briefing and ensure clarity of information for architectural handover

  • Experience supporting in workshops, interviews and observational research and crafting

  • Proficiency in REVIT to develop concept design, detailed design and documentation deliverables

  • Familiarity with building regulations and building code

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign required), and Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook), and other visual communication tools

  • Fluency with digital collaboration tools such as Miro, Mural, Microsoft Teams etc.
