About the team


Our Financial Services M&A Transaction Services team focusses on providing strategic insights and advice to our Financial Services clients at all stages of the M&A lifecycle. From pre-transaction analysis and due diligence to advising on strategic growth and funding initiatives during the investment ownership period and ultimately to exit through IPOs and capital raisings. Our team see transactions from end to end.

What will your typical day look like?


As a Manager, you will play a key role in driving the delivery of engagements and help your clients execute complex transactions. You’ll deliver commercial and financial insights through pre-acquisition analysis, financial due diligence, forecast reviews, and leveraging your general financial analysis skills. You’ll also have access to Deloitte M&A’s extensive accelerators and assets, including our iDeal M&A analytics platform.

In this role, you will:

  • Advise leading Australian and global financial institutions and private equity investors on a wide variety of complex and challenging transactions.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the target business and its drivers.
  • Analyse information memoranda, business plans, and publicly available information.
  • Review historical trading, quality of earnings, cash flow, working capital, net debt, capital expenditure, forecasts, and underlying assumptions through discussions with management teams.
  • Report potential key issues for clients, including identification of risks or price factors impacting investment decisions.
  • Review sale and purchase agreements and financial models.
  • Mentor and coach a team of high-performing practitioners.
  • Develop your skills to build our brand in the market through business development opportunities with existing and targeted clients.

To excel in this role, you should be a highly motivated and talented performer, looking to join a leading Financial Services M&A practice. Your skills and experience should include:

  • Undergraduate degree in finance and/or accounting; Postgraduate qualification e.g. CA, CFA, Masters in Applied Finance or MBA.
  • Solid experience in performing financial due diligence assignments in a transaction environment or similar complex financial assignments, or business combination experience gained through the audit of acquisitive businesses.
  • Experience with large data sets and analytical tools is an advantage.
  • Strong familiarity with the broader deal-oriented process and environment.
  • Structured thinker with analytical and financial skills to work on complex financial transactions.
