We are seeking an experienced risk and compliance leader to join our firm as a Deputy Conduct & Compliance Leader. This is a senior leadership opportunity to shape and embed a world-class compliance culture across Deloitte Australia, while playing a critical role in protecting the firm’s reputation and enabling sustainable growth. Reporting to the Enterprise Risk & Conduct Leader, you will provide operational leadership across the Conduct & Compliance function, working closely with senior stakeholders to translate strategy into practical, effective outcomes. This is a unique opportunity to influence how compliance is embedded across a complex, high-performing organisation.

 

What will your typical day look like?

  • In this role, you’ll be leading the design and execution of Deloitte’s Conduct & Compliance Program, ensuring effective risk management, monitoring, training and policy implementation across the firm. You’ll provide oversight of firm-wide risk assessments and act as a key escalation point for complex and high-risk compliance matters.
  • You’ll spend your time working closely with senior leaders and subject-matter experts, driving continuous improvement across compliance frameworks, and championing the adoption of new technologies and processes. You will also lead and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a pragmatic and commercially focused approach to risk management.

 

About the team

  • The Conduct & Compliance function is a critical part of Deloitte’s Quality & Risk community, supporting the firm across a wide range of regulatory and compliance areas.
  • The team brings together specialists across financial services regulation (AFSL), financial crime compliance, anti-bribery and corruption, sanctions, export control, modern slavery and complaints handling. As part of a broader Asia Pacific structure, the team offers opportunities for cross-border collaboration and exposure to complex regulatory environments.

You may have all or some of the following skills / experiences:

  • 10+ years of experience in senior risk and compliance roles
  • Deep expertise in one or more areas such as AFSL regulation, financial crime compliance, anti-bribery/corruption, or compliance monitoring and control testing
  • Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams
  • Strong ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical business solutions
  • Exceptional judgment with the ability to manage high-risk and complex compliance matters
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging senior leaders
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong analytical capability and ability to interpret regulatory frameworks
  • Experience working in complex, large-scale organisations
  • A proactive, commercially minded and risk-aware approach
