The Deloitte Debt and Capital Advisory practise is a preeminent advisory team in Australia with a long and successful track record of completing highly successful transactions for clients. In this role you will work closely Directors and Partners within the team to provide advisory services across the full spectrum of debt and capital markets. The team is sector agnostic and provides advice to private and publicly listed corporates, private equity, Government related clients along with real estate clients and projects.
What will your typical day look like?
As a Debt and Capital Advisory analyst /senior analyst with a Corporate, private equity and/or Real Estate client focus, you will be responsible for helping with research, financial modelling, power point presentation preparation well as working with Directors and Partners within the team on execution of live debt / capital raising transactions. You will work collaboratively, think unconventionally, apply commercial thinking, and challenge the status quo to design solutions to help solve our clients’ funding problems. You will also be part of a team that works closely with a range of other Deloitte teams including M&A, Infrastructure, Turnaround and Restructuring, Treasury Services along with industry specialisation teams.
About the team
The Debt and Capital Advisory Group comprises a team of highly experienced debt and capital advisory professionals based in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane and linked to our global network of 180 offices with national client coverage and deal origination and execution responsibilities. Our team works closely together on providing our clients with funding ideas, borrowing platform structures, credit ratings guidance, strategic advice, pitching and winning debt and capital funding transactions through to the execution of raising debt and/or capital related funding. We also maintain a very close relationship with lenders within Australia, Asia and Globally, including local and foreign banks, credit funds and institutional investors.

To be considered for this position, you should have at least 2-4+ years of experience in debt and capital advisory, banking, corporate finance or investment banking related roles, with associated hands-on experience in corporate and real estate debt, credit and capital analysis, together with helping to structure potential outcomes and solutions for clients. You should have pragmatic commercial acumen, strong financial modelling skills, research skills and an understanding of global debt capital market products and trends.
You will also have:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of debt origination & structuring, investment, credit risk analysis of vanilla and structured finance transactions.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise competing demands while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong organisational and time management skills to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- An excellent problem solver with proven project management and organisational skills.
- Have the self-confidence and appetite to be involved and support business and origination development activities including proposal writing and client presentations.
- Strong analytical skills and an understanding of financial statements.
- Experience with financial modelling and analysis, including the use of Excel.
- Proficiency in using PowerPoint to create professional standard presentations.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and staying up to date with debt and capital market conditions, industry trends and best practices.
- A degree in business, finance, economics, accounting or mathematics, and studying towards a relevant post-graduate qualification (e.g. CA CFA CAIA or Masters in Finance).
