We are looking for a Data Protection Senior Risk Consultant to join our internal Business Security Office team in a one year contract. This is an exciting opportunity to grow and develop a career in risk management, privacy and confidentiality as part of the broader Quality & Risk function within Deloitte Australia.

 

What will your typical day look like?

Your primary role will be to assist in identifying and managing confidentiality and privacy risks for Deloitte at an operational level. On a day-to-day basis, you will:

  • Support the completion of privacy impact assessments.
  • Support the business to identify, assess and mitigate the privacy and confidentiality risks associated with the use of emerging technologies such as generative AI.
  • Develop risk mitigation plans on client engagements.
  • Embed data protection controls into high-risk projects.
  • Support the development and delivery of awareness initiatives.

Working as part of the broader Business Security Office you will build close relationships with internal teams such as Legal, IT, Talent and Marketing as well as senior partners and staff across the business and will have every opportunity to develop a highly rewarding profile across Deloitte.

The Business Security Office team is a proactive, strategic business partner. We help our client service teams win work, build secure new solutions and take rewarded risks whilst keeping security at the centre of everything they do. While this is an internal team, we are recognised for the value we bring directly to clients and the teams who support them. Fundamentally, we work to ensure the proper safeguards are in place to protect the confidentiality, security, and privacy of the data in Deloitte’s custody. You are someone with:

 Required: 

  • 2-5 years of applied risk management experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, listening and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills enabling you to communicate technical ideas to a non- technical audience.
  • Ability to take theoretical concepts, contextualise them and provide practical advice to the business.
  • Strong critical thinking skills with an ability to proactively problem-solve and show initiative and willingness to put forward alternative points of view.
  • Ability to effectively prioritise and execute multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Desired:

  • Risk management experience in data protection and/or internal audit.
  • Experience undertaking data risk assessments, controls improvement and compliance assurance.
  • Exposure in using risk management systems and/or technologies for case management.
  • Exposure to security and/or data protection incident management; and/or
  • Experience in designing or delivering security and data protection training awareness campaigns.
