We’re looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to help design, build, and evolve a secure, scalable, and modern data platform that powers enterprise analytics, reporting, and data products. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining platform engineering, cloud, automation, and modern AI-enabled ways of working to help data teams deliver faster, more reliably, and at scale.

 

What will your typical day look like?

You’ll play a key role in shaping a platform that enables Data Engineering, Analytics, and Data Science teams across the organisation. You’ll work on meaningful enterprise-scale problems, help define modern engineering practices, and contribute to a platform strategy that includes automation, observability, and AI-augmented engineering.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the design and continual enhancement of enterprise data platform capabilities across ingestion, transformation, analytics, and consumption layers
  • Develop and enhance reusable platform services that support self-service data engineering and analytics capabilities
  • Establish and maintain cloud-native platform patterns, environment standards, and Infrastructure as Code practices
  • Drive CI/CD, automation, and engineering workflows across data pipelines and platform components
  • Strengthen platform reliability through enhanced observability, monitoring, alerting, and operational excellence practices
  • Embed AI-enabled engineering practices to improve development velocity, troubleshooting effectiveness, testing quality, and platform optimisation
  • Collaborate closely with Data Engineering, Analytics, and Data Science teams to deliver secure, scalable, and sustainable platform outcomes
  • Partner with Infrastructure, DevOps, and administration teams to enable secure, scalable, and operationally resilient platform capabilities
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, lead proof-of-concepts, and enable adoption where strategically aligned

Enough about us, let’s talk about you.

  • Demonstrated experience in platform engineering, data engineering, or cloud engineering roles within enterprise-scale environments
  • Strong knowledge of modern data platforms and tooling, including Azure Databricks, Snowflake, Synapse, Fabric, and dbt
  • Strong knowledge of integration and orchestration tooling, including Azure Data Factory, Apache Airflow, Kafka, event-driven integration patterns, and API enablement platforms
  • Hands-on experience with platform engineering and automation tooling, including Terraform, Bicep, and related cloud enablement frameworks
  • Experience with CI/CD and engineering workflows using tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub, and related delivery pipelines
  • Strong scripting and programming capability across Python, Bash, or PowerShell
  • Experience with observability, monitoring, and operational support across data and platform environments
  • Exposure to AI-enabled engineering tools, or a strong interest in applying AI to development, testing, troubleshooting, and platform operations
  • Strong problem-solving capability, systems thinking, and sound judgement across technical and business contexts
  • Well-developed stakeholder engagement, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence outcomes across cross-functional teams
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
