About the role
We are looking for a Manager – Privacy to join the Data and Privacy Pillar of our Cyber and Strategic Risk team. As a member of our national team you will have a unique opportunity to:

•    Lead cutting-edge privacy analysis and transformation projects across some of Australia’s most prominent organisations
•    Solve client privacy problems in a forward-thinking and innovative way
•    Support our team’s go to market strategy and the creation and management of our team pipeline
•    Shape and influence the digital transformation agendas of our clients driven by changes to the Australian and global regulatory environment
•    Coach and mentor our junior team members.


This role will provide you with leadership and management of opportunities across the holistic privacy space, addressing practical implementation challenges, as well as an appreciation for data lifecycle and privacy challenges in data sharing, consent management, records management and customer analytics. The role may see you lead and manage diagnostic assessment activities, through to the design and implementation of data protection and/ or privacy controls and technologies across the information lifecycle. 


In addition to your expertise in the data protection domain, the ideal candidate will have strong project management, business analysis and teaming skills to support our delivery teams in execution of their work.

You will have a variety of administrative responsibilities to maintain operational excellence through your engagements and against execution of our strategy. Therefore, attention to detail is imperative.


You will be an advocate for increasing the eminence of the Deloitte data and privacy practice and engage with high profile clients to grow your network within the field and become a recognised leader in what you do. Not only will we help you grow and develop your skills but we invest in our future leaders who show they have the attributes to succeed.


What will your typical day look like?

Based in Sydney, you will work within a diverse and driven team who are passionate about helping organisations to improve their privacy capabilities.
•    Enable clients to understand the impact of privacy laws, regulations and standards/trends across their organisation and develop strategies to enhance their privacy program maturity
•    Lead development of privacy program governance components (e.g., policies, procedures, standards, frameworks, trainings, notices) for complex global clients across industries
•    Assist clients with understanding how privacy technologies can serve as an enabler for privacy program operations and assist with deployment of leading privacy technologies
•    Coordinate with diverse group of client stakeholders to meet their unique needs in fast-paced environments
•    Support the privacy practice in market expansion and revenue growth

You are someone with:
•    Proven management and delivery experience in a privacy advisory role
•    Strong communication and problem-solving skills
•    Experience leading project teams and coaching junior staff
•    Proven ability to engage with stakeholders effectively at all levels of the organisation
•    Experience in helping organisations to assess their privacy and data protection capabilities across the lifecycle, determine strategic priorities, required investment and change impacts
•    Experience working in data protection and/ or privacy-enabling technologies is desirable
•    A strong desire to develop your leadership skills and impact, providing privacy advice to a range of digital and privacy transformation programs
•    An interest in working across multiple sectors including financial services, technology and media, energy and resources and the public sector
•    Progress towards or completion of certifications is desirable e.g. CISSP, CISM, CIPM, CIPP/E, CIPT.
