The Risk & Regulatory team advises clients on complex risk and compliance management initiatives and in doing so, helps clients achieve their objectives and ensure applicable regulatory requirements are met. Client engagements include risk and compliance management framework uplifts and system implementation, regulatory reviews, data strategy and automation, financial risk management, control transformation and operating model enhancements.
We assist organisations such as banks, insurance companies, superannuation funds, fintech, and retail companies to understand and model uncertainty, learn from data, and optimise and automate business decisions. We are a global company and you will be working with, and learning from, peers from around the world.
What will your typical day look like?
Experience the dynamic environment of the R&R Data team, where you tackle unique challenges daily, guiding clients through complex business issues with data-driven solutions and crafting multi-layered data strategies. Through exposure to a variety of real client projects ranging from industrial relations compliance, data risk and governance to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), you develop a skillset that pairs your technical aptitude with your analytical insight. On a typical project, you collaborate closely with a team of experts to source and prepare data for in-depth analysis. You further delve into the data to uncover meaningful insights and present them to the client. You utilise software like MS Excel, SQL, and Tableau/Power BI, alongisde advanced modelling tools such as Python and R. At Deloitte, you have all the support you need from your colleagues and broader team including access to a global network of risk and compliance management professionals.
Your days will involve:

Design and build robust analytical models and solutions to deliver actionable insight for business users.

Focus on the biggest and most complex risks to our clients, working in a team with skills in data extraction – transformation – loading (ETL), analytics methods, tools, and visual communications.

Assist in identifying and collecting data from financial systems and other related data sources.

Assist in assessing and determining the tools and techniques to be used in data collection, analysis, and communication for an engagement.

Apply selected analytical tools and techniques to achieve project outcomes.

Help to understand our clients’ data strategy, business and technology landscape, and data usage to build and suggest improvements to data risk capabilities and data quality frameworks.

Communicate technical findings, models, and insights to different technical and non-technical audiences within the firm and to our clients.

Assist with the development of data management risk strategies, frameworks, roadmaps and business cases to achieve business objectives, manage data risk and meet regulatory obligations.

Advisory: Our Advisory team works closely with clients to advise, implement, and deliver solutions that address complex regulatory and financial risks. We bring together risk, process, and control transformation to embed and improve our clients operating models, underpinned by data analytics. This provides our clients with comfort that risks are appropriately mitigated, streamlines their operating model, and drives intelligent decision making through the use of data.

Data: Our R&R Data team supports our clients from development of their data strategy and governance framework through to implementation of operational analytics solutions. The team combines practitioners with advanced analytic skills to support clients to navigate the complex regulatory landscape and identify innovative opportunities to achieve great outcomes for businesses and their employees. Currently, we are focusing on regulatory compliance, reducing operational risk, data lifecycle management, and controls transformation within a wide range of industries!

Regulatory: Our Regulatory team works with clients to ensure their operational risks are managed appropriately and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements is achieved. The team includes practitioners with risk and compliance expertise, and analytical skills to advise and support clients with enhancing their risk and compliance management practices, responding effectively to regulatory expectations and navigating the complex regulatory landscape.

You are an inquisitive student with a knack for solving complex problems. You also have:

A background in Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Business Information Systems, Information Technology, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science/Computer Science, Engineering (Data Science) or similar.

Excellent interpersonal skills and thrive in collaborative team environments.

Enthusiasm for data analysis and the skill to present data with strong visual impact.

A drive to address and solve complex and ambiguous challenges with appropriate solutions.
