Cloud Systems and AI Engineer (AWS) - Specialist Manager

We are looking for a Cloud Security Architect to join our Security Operations Centre (SOC) in our infrastructure pod. This role is pivotal in maintaining the internal infrastructure required for our managed services business. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of IT management processes like patching, user management and advanced to expert understanding of AWS cloud environments. You will be part of a wider engineering team that manages multiple security tools across client environments and manages both AWS and Azure cloud environments. Primary role focus will be helping maintain and uplift our existing AI agenda.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Systems Management: Help design and manage all our secure cloud environments, ensuring security policies and baselines are kept up to date (AWS & Azure).
  • BAU response: Respond to platform and infrastructure alerts within SLA to ensure that we maintain our availability requirements. 
  • Identity & Access management: Manage the team that handles IAM for all cloud environments.
  • Internal On-Boarding: Involved in internal on-boarding of new starters. Streamline the process to ensure staff hit the ground running. Build KBA's and provided knowledge to assist.
  • Container Management: Help deploy and manage our various kubernetes environments deployed in AWS. 
  • Integration Management: Be a part of integrating our various toolsets like Atlassian, SIEM products etc using servicessuch as AWS API Gateway and Lambda
  • AI Management: Maintain our existing Bedrock, Agentcore and periphal components required for our Agentic AI solution, in combination with out AI team. 
  • End User Compute: Design, deploy and manage end user compute services such as AWS workspaces. 
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and guide junior engineers.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with other teams and stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver effective solutions.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation and reporting on all related activities.
  • Compliance: Take ownership of confidentiality, security and privacy in all engagements internally and externally. Demonstrate risk-intelligent behaviours and encourage others to do the same.

Deloitte Cyber delivers top-tier Australian based sovereign Managed Detection and Response Services to a diverse range of clients, including both private sector and government entities. Deloitte Cyber’s aim is to protect their clients’ people, infrastructure, and network from a variety of cyber based attacks and threats.   

Enough about us, let’s talk about you.

You may have all or some of the following skills / experiences: 

  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience being in an IT team, with at least 2 years focused on security.
  • Proven experience with Enterprise IT systems, including cloud architecture, deployment, and administration.
  • Extensive experience working in Unix environments.
  • Understanding of Kubernetes and it’s use in AWS. 
  • Deep understanding of cybersecurity principles, SecDevOps processes and deploying as code. 
  • Experience in creating and deploying CICD pipeline and using tools such as terraform.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently with a high level of organisation.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team and lead initiatives.

Additional Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with deploying and managing systems in cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Shell) for automation tasks.
  • Understanding of AI concepts like MCP, RAG and AWS AI related services like Agentcore, Bedrock, API Gateway, etc.
