What will your typical day look like? 

 

A typical day in Deloitte’s Cloud Engineering team begins with standups to align on priorities, progress, and blockers, where you’ll be tasked with leading a team of engineers to implement Cloud solutions that deliver real, tangible client outcomes, in line with well architected design principles. Throughout the day you’ll align with client stakeholders through regular check-ins, and progress the technical delivery of technology outcomes through your technical expertise and breadth of experience, and working with your engineering pod to deliver quality outcomes to our clients. 

 

  • Client interaction and collaboration: Serve as the primary contact for clients and key stakeholders, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.  

  • Requirement analysis and solution design: Collaborate with clients and our broader programme team to understand solution requirements. Architect distributed applications on cloud platfroms to meet these requirements.  

  • Implementation and testing: Undertake hands-on implementation of cloud native and modern integration solutions and conducting robust integration testing.  

  • Troubleshooting and optimisation: Provide expert assistance in troubleshooting technical issues, optimising performance, and ensuring security and compliance of cloud solutions.

An Engineering lead role requires broader leadership, strategic oversight, and proven capability in guiding teams and managing client relationships across cloud projects 

 

  • Proven hands-on expertise with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform; deep specialization in at least one 

  • Strong background in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi 

  • Skilled in designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps 

  • Proficient in containerization technologies, including Docker and Podman 

  • Solid understanding of orchestration platforms like Kubernetes, ECS, GKE, or AKS 

  • Knowledge of serverless computing models including AWS Lambda, Azure Functions, and Google Cloud Functions 

  • Demonstrated ability in designing cloud networking architectures, including VPCs, load balancing, VPNs, and DNS configurations 

  • Familiar with identity and access management frameworks such as IAM, OAuth, SSO, and federated identity 

  • Hands-on involvement in monitoring and observability, using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, ELK, or Datadog 

  • Adept at applying cloud security best practices, including encryption, secrets management, and policy enforcement 

  • Comfortable scripting in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation and tooling 

  • Experience driving cloud cost optimization initiatives and implementing FinOps practices 

  • Background in designing and managing hybrid cloud or multi-cloud deployments 

  • Led successful cloud migration and application modernization projects in large-scale environments 

  • Knowledge of HA/DR strategies, including multi-region failover and auto-scaling architectures 

  • Experience embedding security into pipelines as part of a DevSecOps culture 

  • Familiar with API management platforms and integrating with internal and external systems 

  • Working knowledge of cloud-native and managed storage solutions (e.g., S3, Blob, Glacier) 

  • Practical experience with cloud databases, including RDS, Cloud SQL, DynamoDB, and Cosmos DB 

  • Understanding of compliance requirements like SOC2, HIPAA, and GDPR, and how they apply in cloud environments 

  • Strong foundational knowledge of traditional IT infrastructure, including data center operations, compute/storage/networking architectures, and virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter 

  • Experience designing and managing virtualized environments, and migrating workloads from on-premises VMware or Hyper-V environments to the cloud 

  • Familiarity with legacy-to-cloud transformation strategies and hybrid infrastructure models bridging on-prem and cloud-native systems
