We’re looking for an enterprise-minded, impact-driven Associate Director to join our Strategy & Transformation practice, working specifically in the Innovation & Ventures team. Our projects span industries from energy, resources, and industrials to power and utilities and everything in between. Whether it’s building corporate innovation capabilities or using innovation capabilities to implement emerging technologies and systems we thrive where uncertainty meets opportunity.

 

As an Associate Director, you’ll set the bar for client outcomes - owning relationships at the executive level, leading multi-workstream programs, and shaping our go-to-market. You’ll play a pivotal role in origination, thought leadership, and the growth of our people and practice.

 

Your day-to-day responsibilities may include:

  • Client Pursuits & Business Development: Identify client needs, shape project proposals, and support business development through to successful sales with the Director and Partner group 
  • Project Leadership & Delivery: Manage the end-to-end delivery of projects, ensuring high-quality outcomes that meet client expectations and deadlines 
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead and mentor diverse teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, learning, and growth across both virtual and in-person settings 
  • Innovation Strategy Expertise: Apply knowledge of innovation strategy, including open innovation programs (e.g., accelerators, incubators), governance (e.g., portfolio management, performance measurement), and capability development 
  • Executive Client Engagement: Work with Partners and Directors to build and nurture relationships with senior stakeholders, guiding them through complex strategic decisions and ensuring alignment with their business objectives 

You will also: 

  • Collaborate with Deloitte’s specialists in design thinking, digital, data analytics, and other global networks to deliver innovative solutions 
  • Work in a dynamic and diverse environment, contributing to projects that will shape the future of the energy transition and sustainability landscape

Enough about us, let’s talk about you

As an Associate Director, you are a strategic thinker and inclusive leader who thrives on ambiguity and enjoys mobilising teams to deliver meaningful outcomes. You will:

  • Bring 8–12+ years’ experience in Consulting or Professional Services (or senior internal advisory), with demonstrated delivery in strategy, innovation, and/or venture building—ideally across energy, resources, industrials or power & utilities
  • Have a strong track record originating and winning work, shaping go-to-market propositions, and converting proposals with senior stakeholders
  • Be highly skilled in corporate and innovation strategy, operating model and governance design, and portfolio management
  • Demonstrate experience leading large, complex programs and cross-functional teams, balancing competing priorities while ensuring quality outcomes
  • Possess strong commercial acumen and hypothesis-driven problem-solving, structuring ambiguity into clear, actionable recommendations
  • Excel in executive communication and relationship management, with credibility at C-suite and board levels

 

Highly Desirable:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Law, Science, Engineering, Economics or related disciplines; advanced post-grad (e.g., MBA) preferred
  • Sector depth in decarbonisation and the energy transition (e.g., renewables, grids, storage, industrial decarbonisation, CCUS), or proven experience building open-innovation programs (accelerators/incubators, venture clienting) and scaling digital/data-enabled solutions
