About the Role
We're seeking a talented and driven analyst, from junior to experienced, to join our QFS team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop your problem-solving skills by mathematically formulating solutions and implementing them at scale. You'll leverage your knowledge and technical abilities to understand client needs and design and develop tailored tools that deliver exceptional results. What will your typical day look like?
- Research and benchmark potential solutions to identify the optimal approach.
- Design and develop complex, user-friendly models and tools, both independently and collaboratively.
- Work closely with the team to overcome challenges and consistently deliver high-quality work to our clients.
- Manage stakeholder expectations, including planning, communication, and reporting to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Utilise data skills to extract, cleanse and manage relevant data from raw datasets.

About the Team
The QFS team, part of Deloitte's A&A Sustainability & Emerging Assurance practice, tackles complex challenges for businesses and financial institutions. We bridge the gap between finance, risk, mathematics, and algorithms, translating these disciplines to provide impactful solutions. Every day offers new opportunities, from working with financial instruments and risk management to designing bespoke tools for our clients.
About You
You are an intellectually curious individual with experience in solution architecture design or development, machine learning, or user interface development. Experience in financial services or treasury is a plus, but not required. Your strong technical skills in solution design and development, combined with your investigative mindset, logical and analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and holistic perspective, will position you for success in this role. Specifically, you will need:
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in Quantitative Finance, Financial Engineering, or Actuarial Studies; or a combined/double degree with one major in in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Economics and the other in Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Business Analytics, Data Science, or equivalents with exposure to coding skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of financial markets, the financial services industry, and financial instruments.
- Proficient programming skills, including the ability to design and develop sophisticated tools for tasks like data extraction and visualization, risk, and financial modelling.
- Proficiency knowledge and experience (1-3 years) with at least one programming language, including but not limited to R, Python, SQL, and VBA.
- Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic, agile environment, demonstrating strong collaborative skills and the capacity to effectively communicate complex information to diverse audiences.
- Exposure to process automation tools such as RPA, UiPath or Alteryx is advantageous.
- Exposure to cloud-based environment such as Dev-ops, Databricks, Azure Data Lake is advantageous.
- Understanding of business intelligence software platform is advantageous, such as Power BI, Tableau, and QlikView.
