Date:  16-Sep-2021
Location:

Sydney, NSW, AU

Department:
Description:

Challenge yourself and change the world

Deloitte is the world’s leading professional services firm.  Our aim is to work hard, have fun, and change the world.

Deloitte’s Australian actuarial team is reinventing the profession.  Last century actuaries focused on compliance work.  Our focus is excellent technical work as a platform for bringing strategic and commercial insights.

Do you want to be part of a growing team looking to redefine how actuaries operate in the fast-paced world of technological change?  Like many financial services’ roles, a significant portion of what actuaries currently do today may not exist in 5-10 years’ time, and our focus on innovation and creative thinking will prepare you and your career to be part of that next generation of the actuary.

Join a high performing culture of talented people, who are highly motivated and passionate about building and implementing information-based solutions. We have a relaxed and flexible work environment and encourage our people to feel comfortable to bring their whole selves to work.

About the team

Deloitte’s Actuarial & Insurance Solutions offering is recognised for providing quality advice to clients across the full range of advisory services, often working together with other Deloitte teams to deliver core actuarial advice and large-scale transformation projects.

The team of over 120 professionals is spread across Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney, servicing clients nationally and internationally.

You will have access to training to further develop your core technical skills, and also to think creatively and innovatively.  We will work to give you projects with a wide range of professionals across Deloitte, and learn first-hand how actuarial skillsets can be combined with other competencies to create a leading solution to a problem.

About you and the role

We are looking for actuaries and those studying to be actuaries that are interested in doing excellent work and taking on the personal challenge to make the world a better place, ideally with relevant experience in the insurance industry.

We are open to candidates across the range of actuarial skills including pricing and reserving, capital management, reinsurance, actuarial analytics and risk management.  IFRS17 experience is highly valued.

Ideally you will have at least 1-2 years of experience including analytical and problem-solving skills as well as a good understanding of actuarial techniques.  You would ideally be proficient in Excel with experience in other data and statistical analysis software (such as SQL, R or Prophet) being desirable but not essential. We are also seeking Consultant right through to experienced actuaries at the Director level.

At Deloitte, we also value non-technical skills with experience in people, project and stakeholder management being highly valuable along with business partnering and business development experience.

To thrive in a consulting environment, the successful candidate will need strong communication skills (written and verbal), a willingness to take responsibility and ownership of the work assigned and a strong ability to collaborate with others.

The role provides exposure to core actuarial insurance as well as non-traditional areas and it allows for a diverse range of opportunities.  You will work closely with experienced members of the team, as well as senior client stakeholders to support delivery of client project work.

What we will provide you

At Deloitte, we create positively differentiated work experiences that enable our people to feel valued and achieve their full potential.  We value difference and embrace people with diverse backgrounds and thinking styles.  Knowing that people work best in different ways, we are happy to discuss alternative arrangements if the working pattern you are looking for is not specifically indicated.
