AI Engineer | Audit & Assurance Data & Digital | Sydney

  • Work on cutting-edge AI and GenAI solutions at enterprise scale

  • See the real-world impact of your work across capital markets and regulated environments

  • Grow your career in a collaborative, high-performing team at the forefront of AI-enabled audit

We’re looking for an AI Engineer to join Deloitte’s Audit & Assurance Data & Digital team. This is a permanent opportunity to work on meaningful, high-impact AI solutions that go well beyond experimentation — powering core audit processes used at scale across Australia and Asia Pacific. If you’re passionate about AI, GenAI and building production-ready solutions that truly matter, this role gives you the platform to do just that.

What will your typical day look like?

Day to day, you’ll design, build and scale AI solutions that support Deloitte’s vision of an AI-enabled audit. You’ll work hands-on across the full AI lifecycle — from shaping ideas with stakeholders through to deploying robust, production-grade models that integrate into enterprise platforms.

In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with business leaders, engineers and risk specialists to solve complex problems using technologies such as LLMs, GenAI, anomaly detection and knowledge graphs. You’ll help ensure models are explainable, secure and compliant, while continuously improving how AI is delivered, governed and scaled across the business.

About the team

You’ll be part of Deloitte’s Audit & Assurance Data & Digital team — a collaborative, multidisciplinary group of AI engineers, data scientists and technologists focused on delivering next-generation audit solutions. The team works at the intersection of AI innovation and trust, tackling challenges in highly regulated, real-world environments.

Current initiatives include Generative AI, LLM platforms, context engineering, anomaly detection and advanced analytics — all aimed at lifting audit quality and delivering deeper insights for clients at scale.

Enough about us, let’s talk about you.

You may have all or some of the following skills / experiences:

  • 2–4+ years’ experience designing and deploying production AI, ML or GenAI solutions

  • Strong Python skills with hands-on experience using data science and ML frameworks

  • Practical experience across the end-to-end ML or LLM lifecycle, from data to deployment

  • Exposure to LLMs, prompt and context engineering, embeddings, RAG or fine-tuning approaches

  • Experience building reliable, well-tested, production-ready code and APIs

  • Familiarity with MLOps or DevOps practices and deploying models on cloud platforms (Azure preferred)

  • An understanding of model validation, monitoring, fairness, explainability or risk controls

  • Clear communication skills and confidence working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • A collaborative mindset, curiosity for emerging AI trends, and a drive to build things that last
