About the team
The Deloitte Climate and Sustainability Team works with the Senior Executives, CEOs and Boards of leading corporations and start-ups, leading the global response to the climate transition. Our practitioners are strategic problem solvers, with deep transformation, operations and industry insight, utilising methodologies such as statistical analysis, optimisation modeling, and value stream analysis. They apply their experience to diagnose and solve complex problems and design innovative, pragmatic solutions to achieve transformational success.

What will your typical day look like?
As a Senior Consultant – Climate and Sustainability, you will use strong problem-solving and analytical skills to make high-quality contributions toward helping our clients solve their priority problems including their approach to energy transition and sustainability. You will:
- Work with a high performing team with a strong commitment to excellence in pursuit of helping our clients drive profitability and performance
- Work largely independently to lead a stream of work including; determining client problems and co-designing options / solutions with clients in a structured and logical manner, as well as developing deliverable structures and presenting outputs to Senior Stakeholders
- Guide the direction of research and analysis including determining the appropriate primary and secondary sources to gather and validate data / insights
- Draw on Deloitte’s unique capabilities in Technology, Digital, and Data Analytics, alongside insights from our global consulting network, to develop transformative solutions.
- Develop strong client relationships to deliver projects on-time and to clients’ expectations, while facilitating virtual and in-person workshop to address complex challenges in a collaborative manner.
- Draft / storyboard project deliverables and engagement materials
- Conduct client meetings and interviews / assist with the facilitation of client workshops
- Undertake extensive Business Transformation, Operations Excellence, and Strategic Cost Transformation (eg. target operating model design, agile delivery, lean, process re-engineering and workflow) focused training and development with the opportunity to experience borderless careers through international assignments and secondments
- Direct junior practitioners in the delivery of work and coaching them to develop their own consulting capabilities
- Leverage analytics and emerging technologies, such as AI and cloud-based platforms, to optimise resource efficiency and decarbonise operations at scale
As a Senior Consultant – Climate and Sustainability your development priority starts to shift from solely client delivery to business development, thought leadership and team sales, in addition to leading subsections of various proposals.

As a Senior Consultant you will be considered a safe pair of hands who can deliver solutions to complex problems independently and on-time. We encourage anyone who possesses the following experience and skills, regardless of background, to apply:
- Experience in consulting or assisting clients to manage major operational programmes, in particular the implementation of large-scale transformational change in a commercial, start-up, not-for-profit, disruptor or gig organisation
- Experience in solving issues within leading private or public sector organisations
- Ability to deliver work largely independently while taking ownership as a stream lead for project deliverables, mentoring junior team members, and contributing to firm-wide initiatives.
- Ability to apply fundamental project management skills in scoping, designing, and planning projects
- Experience working with or on consulting project teams in areas such as operating model transformation, operational excellence, value stream analysis, enterprise cost reduction and process redesign
- Ability to build highly effective small teams while guiding junior practitioners and building strong client relationships
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment
- Understanding of the end-to-end sales process, and lead subsections of proposals and small initiatives internally.
- The ability to analyse operational processes and develop creative solutions that reduce emissions while improving efficiency and profitability.
- Ability to perform data analysis, including the application of statistical methods and optimisation modelling, to enable actionable business insights.
- Proactive participation within a team environment and showcase skills and use relevant abilities to drive progress.
Ability to translate complex technical insights into compelling narratives for senior decision-makers through exceptional presentation and storytelling skills.
Using your previous consulting or industry experience and project management skillset, you can confidently scope, design, and deliver projects in unfamiliar industries, while directing others within a small team and guiding junior practitioners. With your tertiary or postgraduate degree, creativity, adaptability, and commercial acumen, you will lead the development of deliverable subsections and build strong client relationships
Work experience and qualifications
- 4-6 years of experience demonstrating leadership in shaping and delivering solutions, with clear evidence of career progression through increased ownership of complex projects.
- Relevant certifications such as Lean Six Sigma, PowerBI, Power Apps, or data analytics are an advantage, reflecting a commitment to continuous learning and technical excellence.
