About the role
The Perth Deloitte Legal practice is looking for a recent graduate or junior lawyer to join our high performing, collaborative and supportive team. If you have recently graduated (or will graduate in 2025) or are a junior lawyer (1-3 years PQE) seeking a new challenge, please reach out for a confidential discussion about the role.
What will your typical day look like?
You will develop experience in the delivery of a variety of legal services to a diverse range of clients, so there will be no typical day. You will work across a wide portfolio of clients, including large multinationals, Australian listed companies, significant net worth private groups, middle market businesses and not-for-profits, and gain exposure to the provision of legal services in the following areas:
- Federal tax advisory and dispute resolution
- General corporate and commercial law advisory, including Corporations Act advisory, advising on and implementing a variety of transactions and the establishment of new structures
- Advising on Australia’s foreign investment laws, including making applications to the Foreign Investment Review Board
- Not for profit legal advisory; and
- Trusts and estate planning.
You will be exposed to a range of tasks including:
- Undertaking research and preparing advice
- Preparing submissions to government bodies, including the Australian Taxation Office, Foreign Investment Review Board/Department of Treasury, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission and the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission
- Preparing for proceedings in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal or the Federal Court
- Advising and assisting clients to establish business operations in Australia, including establishing entity structures (e.g., companies and trusts) and obtaining regulatory approvals; and
- Preparation of legal documentation, including in connection with reorganisations/restructures, mergers and acquisitions, related party contracting, financing arrangements and capital restructures, corporate actions and governance, amongst other areas.
Who will you be working with?
Looking to study further? We’re focused on supporting your learning, and that’s why our goal is to empower you with the technical skills to succeed. As part of your role, you will have the opportunity to participate in the Deloitte Tax and Legal Graduate Program and complete a graduate diploma through the College of Law to become admitted as a lawyer in the Supreme Court of Western Australian and High Court of Australia in due course. After that – there are a number of internal and external further education and training and opportunities available for discussion.
