We collaborate closely with our clients to create value through strategic investments in energy transition, commodities, and emerging industries. Our expertise extends to driving technology-driven transformations and addressing climate and transition risks, thereby fostering resilient organisations.
Within our Industrials practice, the smart manufacturing and operations team helps clients transform their operations and uplift production performance by applying the latest in advanced digital technologies. Underpinned by the global Deloitte Smart Factory network, we take a holistic approach to raising performance and enable clients to drive increased value within and beyond the four walls of their manufacturing operations, while ensuring that people and processes are part of the successful technology transformation strategy.
This is an exciting, growing, and highly visible area within Deloitte that has some of the most innovative, bright, and disruptive minds applying new thinking, new ideas, and new solutions to new problems across manufacturing sectors including Med Tech, Food & Beverage, Mining, Oil & Gas, Power, Utilities, and Renewables.
What will your typical day look like?
We are looking for people with a range of experience, whether you are just starting out your career or looking for your next move we want to hear from you. You can expect to cover areas such as:
Junior-Level:
- System Implementation: Assist in the design and deployment of automation solutions under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support and troubleshooting for existing systems to ensure smooth operation.
- Documentation: Contribute to the creation of technical documentation and user manuals.
- Collaboration: Work closely with team members and clients to understand project requirements and deliverables.
Senior-Level:
- Project Leadership: Oversee the end-to-end management of automation projects, from initial planning through execution and delivery.
- Strategy Development: Develop strategies to integrate new technologies into existing manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency and productivity.
- Mentorship: Mentor junior engineers and lead technical training sessions to elevate team capabilities.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a primary contact for client interactions, ensuring alignment of project goals with business objectives.

Ideally you will have experience in one (or more) of the below areas:
Junior-Level:
- Basic Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with PLC, SCADA, HMI, and industrial automation.
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving skills to address technical challenges effectively.
- Adaptability: Willingness to learn new technologies and methodologies.
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Senior-Level:
- Advanced Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of advanced automation technologies, including IoT and data analytics platforms.
- Leadership Skills: Proven leadership abilities to manage teams and drive projects to successful completion.
- Innovation: Experience in implementing cutting-edge solutions and staying abreast of industry trends.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills for interfacing with clients, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
Technologies and Methodologies
Junior-Level:
- Focus on gaining proficiency in core automation tools including Edge to Enterprise IIoT, SCADA, MES, ERP integration, and Industrial Information management
Senior-Level:
- Expertise in advanced core automation technologies, in addition to the integration of AI and machine learning in manufacturing, and familiarity with methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma for process improvement. Knowledge of cybersecurity measures for industrial control systems is also beneficial.
