Deloitte Access Economics is Australia’s largest team of private sector economists. We deliver unique insight to help public and private-sector organisations plan for the future, understand the implications of major decisions and navigate the complexities of policy and project development and implementation.

 

As an Economist / Senior Economist in the Perth team, you will have the opportunity to work on high-profile economic and policy issues that will shape the future of Western Australia. Are you in?

 

What does Deloitte Access Economics do?

 

  • We advise and support our clients across the public, private and not-for-profit sectors

  • We combine our micro and macro-economic analytical capability to provide organisations with objective, respected and strategic insights

  • We are called on to advise on the most topical national and local policy matters covering issues such as transport, the macroeconomy, government finances, health and social policy, education, energy, and resources

 

What will your typical day look like?

 

  • Working with our clients to define their problems and design innovative solutions

  • Using data and information to build economic models and derive critical insights – including consumer-level data, financial and economic information and demand forecasts

  • Drafting well-written, clear and insightful reports for clients

  • Participating in stakeholder consultations, including one-on-one, small group and large workshops (including managing a number of digital facilitation tools)

  • Contributing to our supportive and professional team culture

You will have: 

  • A passion for economics

  • A positive, collaborative and problem-solving approach to your work

  • Ideally 2-5 years of experience in a consulting and advisory environment, or in public sector central agencies - this is provided as a guide only; please don’t let it limit you if you think you’ve got something to add to our team

  • An interest in the economic, financial and social drivers of government investment, decision-making and policy

  • Experience or interest in applying economic techniques; examples could include cost benefit analysis, economic impact assessment or program evaluation

  • Experience working with Excel is essential; some experience with R or Python would be considered favourably

  • Ability to clearly communicate written analysis in well-structured, evidence-based reports

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a high performing team

  • A relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. Economics, Econometrics, Data Science, Mathematics, Public Policy, Commerce, Finance).
