About our Sustainability & Climate Change team

 

  • This role is Perth based. The Perth sustainability and climate team are focussed on working with public sector and government entities to help support, design, implement, and enhance climate and sustainability related programs, and importantly to help our clients integrate sustainability outcomes into their business as usual. 

 

  • Our team has a strong culture of technical expertise combined with practical consulting advice – we form part of a growing national practice but work across other Deloitte business units and pride ourselves on collaboration for greater impact.

 

  • The broader practice’s experience and expertise spans Sustainability (or “ESG”) Strategy, Impact Measurement, Nature Risk and Strategy, Climate Risk and Strategy, Decarbonisation, Environmental Management, Social Performance, Risk Culture, Human Rights and Ethics, across a range of reporting and advisory client engagements.   

 

What will your typical day look like?

 

We are looking for a Director to join our Sustainability & Climate Change practice in Western Australia, specifically supporting our clients to drive climate change resilience and sustainability transformation. In your role you will work closely with our local, regional and global teams to develop world-class solutions and apply the latest science, tools and techniques to serve a variety of clients as they address leading sustainability challenges and opportunities – with a particular focus on climate and nature.

 

Day-to-day, you will be working with both client and Deloitte leadership teams to lead strategic engagements relating to climate change, nature and sustainability integration. Your combined structured thinking, subject matter expertise and passion for the field will help shape opportunities, support sales and lead end-to-end project delivery.

You will bring a deep subject matter expertise of climate, both mitigation and adaptation, along with experience working with or for corporate entities. As a senior leader within our team, you will bring a strong passion to make a difference for our clients, an ability to work with C-suite leaders on strategic engagements and the drive to work at pace and at scale for shared impact. You will have a leadership role within the team and more broadly, within Deloitte; you will provide engaging leadership of teams to support the growth of our climate change related services, in line with our strategy and purpose.

Required skills and experience:

  • 10+ years’ experience (consulting experience preferred but not essential), relating to working with industry, government, non-profit or private sector clients on topics relating to climate change and/or sustainability;
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and engage with both corporate and public policy landscapes – including latest climate science, related regulatory frameworks, voluntary business schemes;
  • Have strong oral and written communication skills (including presentations, workshopping, facilitation and negotiations);
  • Apply structured problem-solving, technical skills and knowledge to design project approach and lead others in delivery;
  • Be passionate about people development, including coaching and managing teams.  You will have the ability to lead people effectively and build strong rapport and relationships with both our team and client peers;
  • Have a strong track record of business development with experience in developing proposals;
  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills, and be able to effectively draw insights from research and data to support inform solutions and outcomes for clients;
  • The ability, drive and determination to methodically work through complex problems at speed and synthesise into clear and impactful communications, without forsaking quality.

 

Qualifications:

  • A graduate degree in environmental (inclusive of climate, biological or earth) science, business, engineering and/or equivalent relevant subject
