Deloitte Legal is a fast-growing Australian incorporated legal practice with offices in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide.

The opportunity

You will be based in Perth and will have at least five (5) years PQE or equivalent gained within a law firm, large organisation or government agency with a focus on corporate and transactional legal services.

 

You will be primarily responsible for:

  • Coordinating end-to-end engagement delivery, including managing client interactions and coordinating work performed by junior team members and other parts of Deloitte. You will have a core focus on the delivery of corporate legal services to a portfolio of Australian and international clients, including but not limited to:
  • Advising on and implementing corporate reorganisations and group rationalisations, including in connection with global mergers and restructures and other significant transactions;
  • Advising on and establishing various legal structures;
  • Advising on inbound foreign investment, including assistance with applications to the Foreign Investment Review Board and other regulators;
  • Advising on corporations law matters;
  • Advising on and implementing debt and capital restructures or cash repatriation, including dividends, returns of capital, share issuances and transfers, debt capitalisation and financing arrangements;
  • Preparation and review of various transaction documents and contracts;
  • Advising on trust law matters; and
  • Advising on charities and not-for-profit related matters, including as part of our pro bono program.

In addition, as a member of the Perth Deloitte Legal team you will have exposure to the other areas of law practiced, including Federal and State taxes/duty advisory and dispute resolution. This will provide opportunities to apply your broader skillset or learn new skills as part of a supportive and collaborative team.

What will your typical day look like?
With responsibility for the delivery of legal services to a diverse range of clients, there will be no typical day. You will work across a wide portfolio of clients, including large multinationals, Australian listed companies, significant net worth private groups, middle market businesses, not-for-profits and governments.

 

You are someone with:

  • The ability to work autonomously and take initiative as you lead teams of junior lawyers on engagements under the supervision of a Legal Practitioner Director.
  • The desire to take an active leadership role on engagements, with key clients and in the market.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to handle a high-volume of matters across a diverse client base.
  • Ability to draft, review and advise on a range of legal deliverables.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of an energetic and highly collaborative national team, including the ability to instruct, mentor and train team members who are not always in the same office (due to Deloitte Flex arrangements and national teams).
