Senior Manager | Controls Assurance - Internal Audit | Melbourne

Date:  28 Jul 2026
Location:

Melbourne, VIC, AU

Department:  Audit and Assurance
Description:

Job Requisition ID: 41651

  • Lead complex internal audit and controls assurance programs for major organisations, shaping stronger control environments and more confident decision-making.

  • Tackle big issues like cyber, trust, resilience and digital transformation

  • Mentoring, coaching and leadership programs to help you make an impact that matters

This is a Senior Manager opportunity in Controls Assurance where you'll lead high-impact advisory and assurance work, build trusted client relationships, and help shape how organisations manage risk in an increasingly complex environment.

What will your typical day look like?

You will lead internal audit engagements and controls assurance programs across a range of sectors, overseeing how processes and controls operate in practice and where clients may be exposed. That includes guiding teams through planning and delivery, challenging findings, and shaping pragmatic recommendations that strengthen risk management and support better business decisions.

A big part of the role is helping clients look beyond control gaps to the broader business implications. Whether you're advising on framework uplift, process improvement, or a more forward-looking approach to risk, you'll bring a strategic lens to the issues that matter most and help senior stakeholders focus on the actions that will have the greatest impact.

Across our national team, you'll work closely with experienced practitioners, senior client contacts, and broader Deloitte specialists to deliver quality outcomes in complex environments. You'll also play an important role in developing team capability - coaching junior team members, creating opportunities for growth, and contributing to the direction and strength of the Controls Assurance practice.

About the team

Deloitte's Controls Assurance team works with some of Australia's most significant organisations to assess, improve and provide assurance over their control environments. The team delivers internal audit, controls advisory and third-party assurance work, using digital and data-enabled approaches to help clients build resilience, respond to change, and strengthen the frameworks their stakeholders rely on.

Enough about us, let's talk about you

You may have all or some of the following skills/experiences:

  • Significant experience delivering internal audit, controls advisory, or third-party controls assurance engagements

  • Strong experience leading complex process risk and control projects, including shaping findings and practical mitigation strategies

  • A deep understanding of business processes, risk, and controls, with the ability to bring an insights-led and strategic perspective

  • Confidence building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and guiding conversations on risk, controls, and improvement priorities

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence, challenge constructively, and make complex ideas easy to understand

  • Experience leading teams, reviewing deliverables, and developing junior practitioners through coaching and feedback

  • The ability to work across multi-disciplinary teams and navigate complexity, ambiguity, and changing client needs

  • A CIA or CA qualification, or experience in data analytics or information systems, is valued but not essential
