As a key member of the Q&R Data & AI Transformation team, you will provide data engineering, analysis and reporting/visualisation for a wide range of projects. You will drive data engineering efficiencies through automation with documentation. You will interact with business stakeholders, understand, and interpret their requirements and implement data solutions that enable quick and automated insights generation.
What will your typical day look like?
As a Senior Data Engineer within our Q&R Data & AI Transformation team, you will as a team design and deliver innovative data solutions that empower business insights and enable strategic decision-making. You will work across a range of projects, collaborating with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to create scalable, automated data pipelines and data architectures. Your role will be pivotal in modernising data platforms, embedding best practices and supporting AI and analytics initiatives that directly influence business outcomes.
Each day, you will design and optimise databases, data warehouses, lakes, and feature pipelines to support operational and analytical needs. You will automate ELT/ETL processes, integrate APIs, and apply advanced SQL and NoSQL techniques to ensure data integrity and scalability. You will also implement modern DevOps/DataOps practices, manage CI/CD pipelines, and oversee source control using Git. Your technical expertise will extend to managing SQL Server environments, optimising queries, and automating data workflows. Apart from that, you will also create dashboards and reports using Tableau, Power BI, and advanced Excel, translating complex data into actionable insights.

You are someone with:
- 5+ years of demonstrated expertise in database design, with hands-on experience using SQL, NoSQL, and big data ecosystems deliver scalable solutions.
- Skilled in architecting and maintaining complex databases, warehouses, lakes, and lakehouse environments, ensuring adaptability to evolving business needs.
- Proficient in building, automating, and optimising data pipelines, including ELT/ETL workflows and complex API integrations for seamless data flow.
- Practical knowledge of DevOps/DataOps practices, source control with Git, and CI/CD pipelines to streamline and automate data engineering processes.
- Experienced with SQL Server administration, including performance tuning, scheduling, and automation via SQL Server Agent.
- Strong background working with cloud data platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP, leveraging their services for scalable data solutions.
- Programming skills in Python and related languages for data wrangling, automation, and supporting AI/ML initiatives.
- Adept at developing interactive dashboards and reports using Tableau and Power BI, translating technical data into clear business insights.
- Effective communicator and collaborator, able to engage with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to interpret requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
- Passionate about AI/ML, with machine learning fundamentals, experience with Python ML libraries, and exposure to generative AI, prompt design, RAG, and vector databases.
