We are seeing growing demand for strong capability in valuations, financial modelling, accounting and financial risk management to help our clients navigate an increasingly complex market environment. Developing this mix of skills will set you up as a highly sought-after advisor, helping clients solve challenges such as:

  • Valuation and financial modelling for corporate transactions, capital investments and complex financial instruments
  • Trading and hedging strategy and policy work for major energy generators and retailers
  • Treasury due diligence on significant buy-side and sell-side M&A transactions
  • Valuation services of the fastest-growing technology companies in Australia
  • AASB 13 Fair value methodology reviews and supporting papers for major corporates, financial institutions and government-related entities
  • AASB 9 accounting advice and hedge accounting support to CFOs and finance teams of listed and large private entities

 

About the team

As part of the Treasury and Capital Markets Advisory team, we advise a wide range of clients on valuation, mergers and acquisitions, financial risk management and technical accounting. Our clients include some of Australia’s largest publicly listed companies, private businesses and government departments.

You will work across a variety of sectors, including financial services, energy, technology and government.

 

What will your typical day look like?

As part of the Treasury and Capital Markets team, you will gain broad exposure to:

  • Delivering high-quality advisory services across valuations, financial due diligence, financial modelling, accounting and treasury to support clients with financial reporting, transactions and risk management
  • Collaborating with specialists across a range of disciplines (e.g. Tax & Legal, Consulting, Technical Accounting, M&A) to provide integrated solutions for our clients
  • Managing and coordinating client engagements end-to-end – handling multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining a high standard of quality, and working closely with client stakeholders
  • Coaching and mentoring junior team members and supporting their personal and professional development
  • Building our team’s technical capability and contributing to the ongoing development and success of our services

 

Enough about us, let’s talk about you

You are an intellectually curious professional with a background in professional services or financial services. You thrive on solving complex problems, leveraging your investigative skills, analytical mindset and holistic approach. Your experience in financial modelling, treasury, risk, valuation and accounting will be key to your success in this role.

You will also have:

  • 2+ years of proven experience in professional services or financial services
  • A strong understanding of corporate finance, valuation concepts, accounting principles, financial risk management and treasury
  • Progress towards or completion of a professional qualification such as CA, CFA or FRM (or equivalent) – highly regarded
  • A passion for innovation and fresh thinking, with a track record of solving problems creatively and managing multiple projects concurrently
  • Proficiency in financial modelling, with the ability to design, build and review complex financial models
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders and produce insightful reports and effective client presentations
