In response to the growing demand for our market leading M&A Consulting services, we are looking to grow our Finance Function M&A Integration and Separation capability across Australia to deliver trusted advice and practical solutions for our clients.

If you are looking to take your career to the next level within the world of mergers and acquisitions, then our team provides you with the perfect opportunity:

  • We invest in our people - you will have access to experienced coaches, world class training and global development opportunities.

About the team

We know that Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) are a huge deal for businesses, so whether the focus is on growth through acquisitions or increasing shareholder value through strategic divestments, we support clients from start to finish.

Our M&A Consulting Services Team focuses on the deal cycle - including assessment of deal targets with commercial and operational due diligence, pre-deal analysis, deal execution and implementation. We provide support for our clients during sell-side separations and buy-side integrations, with a focus on increasing growth and value, and helping our clients navigate complex deal processes.

Due to the high level of M&A activity as well as the strategic growth and direction of the M&A Consulting Services team, we are seeking Finance professionals to help grow our M&A Finance capability.

What will your typical day look like?

Our M&A Finance capability works in close collaboration with our broader M&A Consulting Team. As a member of our M&A Finance capability, you will have experience supporting finance teams and CFOs in preparing for and navigating the operational implications of a transaction; from integration/separation planning to a stable Day 1 and ultimately optimising the finance function post deal.

This will require you to bring a strategic point of view, structured problem solving, great consulting skills and a holistic understanding of finance and accounting as you gain exposure across a broad range of deal constructs; trade sales, IPOs, demergers, takeovers and privatisations.

Your specific responsibilities will include:

  • Pre-deal work including assessing Finance Function readiness to support a deal
  • Development of Finance Integration and Separation strategies to extract maximum value from the transaction including operational design and change management for Day 1 and beyond
  • End-to-end project management of large-scale transactions, focused on the Finance Function
  • Hands on support for core Finance integration / separation deliverables covering; Finance TSAs, Day 1 balance sheets, accounting operations, stranded costs, process and controls, synergy capture and FP&A
  • Post deal optimisation support, including accelerated accounting close, fit for purpose chart of accounts, management reporting, systems, and ledger migration
  • Support central integration and separation deliverables including Finance Function blueprinting and Finance Day 1 (Completion) readiness planning and TSAs
  • Contributing to practice and business development activities e.g. through the development best practice methodologies, thought leadership material and/or sales materials

Enough about us, let’s talk about you.

You are someone with:

  • Bachelor’s degree or post graduate qualification (e.g. CA / CFA / MBA)
  • 3+ years Finance function or CFO advisory consulting experience – ideally from a Big 4, strategy or boutique consulting firm, or detailed knowledge and experience from a Finance function of a large corporate. Note this is provided as a guidance only – please don't let this limit you, if you feel you have something to add to our team
  • Experience in one or more of the following: general accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, planning and analysis, governance, order to cash and purchase to pay
  • Knowledge of and experience with financial information systems such as SAP, Oracle, Cognos and/or other common systems
  • Experience in financial process benchmarking, finance organisation design, process redesign, shared services, process outsourcing
  • Pragmatic commercial acumen – able to identify Finance function risks in an M&A / integration or separation context and develop solutions to manage those risks
  • Natural aptitude to problem solving and structured thinking
  • Experience with the broader deal-oriented processes
  • Excellent financial and analytical skills
  • Articulate communication and confident presentation skills
