We are seeking a Infrastructure Engineer to join our Optimal Reality Digital Twin team. In this role, you will play a key part in building and delivery client solutions that integrate real-time IoT data, AI-driven analytics, and high-fidelity simulations across industries such as mining, energy, transport, and manufacturing.

What will your typical day look like?

As an Optimal Reality Infrastructure Engineer, you will design, implement, and maintain the scalable, secure, and high-performance infrastructure that underpins the Optimal Reality platform.

You will play a critical role in cloud architecture, DevOps automation, and edge-to-cloud connectivity, enabling our digital twin solutions to deliver real-time insights across IoT, OT, and enterprise IT systems.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about AWS-native architectures, infrastructure-as-code, and mission-critical systems, with an interest in AI-driven operations and advanced simulation environments.

You will work across our product team and client implementation in the following areas:

Cloud Architecture & Deployment

• Design and implement scalable infrastructure using AWS services (e.g., IoT Core, Greengrass, Lambda, CloudFront, ECS, EKS, S3, CloudFormation).
• Build resilient, multi-region environments for real-time data ingestion, streaming, and analytics.

Automation & DevOps

• Implement infrastructure-as-code (IaC) with Terraform/CloudFormation.
• Drive CI/CD pipelines for digital twin microservices and simulation platforms.
• Automate testing, deployment, and monitoring to ensure uptime and scalability.

Security & Compliance

• Ensure adherence to ISO27001, SOC2, and industry-specific security standards.
• Implement IAM policies, network segmentation, and encryption for sensitive industrial data.

Edge Integration

• Connect OT and IoT systems with the cloud via secure, low-latency channels.
• Optimize streaming pipelines for video, sensor, and telemetry data.

Collaboration

• Work closely with data scientists, simulation engineers, and product teams to support rapid innovation cycles.
• Partner with external integrators and cloud vendors

Performance & Cost Optimization

• Monitor system performance and optimize for speed, cost, and resilience.
• Implement observability tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Grafana, Prometheus).

You are a highly motivated individual with: 

Essential skills:

• Cloud Platforms - 4+ years with AWS, deep knowledge of IoT, data streaming, container orchestration (ECS/EKS).
• Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) - Terraform, CloudFormation, Docker or equivalent.
• Automation & DevOps - GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, CodePipeline, or similar CI/CD tooling.
• Networking & Security - VPC design, IAM, encryption, zero-trust architecture.
• Data Systems - Experience with real-time streaming (Kafka, Kinesis, MQTT).
• Programming/Scripting - Python, Go, or Bash for automation tasks.
• Monitoring & Observability - CloudWatch, Grafana, ELK, Prometheus.

Desirable

• Experience in industrial domains (e.g., mining, transport, energy).
• Knowledge of digital twin platform and simulation technology
• Exposure to AI/ML workflows and agentic AI systems.
• AWS certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer).

Optimal Reality is Deloitte’s advanced Digital Twin platform. Our back end languages include Golang, Julia and Python. We use GraphQL in the BFF layer and our front end applications are built with React and Javascript and uses DeckGL. We're a full stack team with skills across front end, back end, data and devops.
