Our First Nations Internship Program is designed for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander university students who are ready to gain meaningful, real-world experience in a leading professional services environment.
This is more than an internship. It’s an opportunity to build capability, confidence and community, while working on real client engagements and purpose-led projects that support Indigenous businesses and communities.
About the Program
Aimed primarily at penultimate year* university students, this program provides Australian First Nations students with the opportunity to:
- Contribute to real-life client projects within your chosen service line
- Support initiatives that positively impact Indigenous businesses and communities
- Develop technical and professional skills aligned to your field of study
- Build strong networks across the Firm, including First Nations leaders and employee groups
From day one, you’ll be part of the team, gaining hands-on experience, exposure to real deliverables, and insight into how professional services supports clients across industries.
*Penultimate year: Second-year students of a three-year degree; third-year students of a four-year degree, etc.

What you can expect

During your internship, you may:
- Work on live client engagements and contribute to deliverables
- Assist with research, analysis and structured problem-solving
- Support advisory work for Indigenous organisations or community initiatives
- Contribute to projects that embed First Nations strategy into business practice
You’ll gain practical, transferable experience that strengthens your resume while building confidence in a corporate environment; without losing connection to purpose and community impact.
Structured Support & Mentoring
We know that feeling supported and culturally safe at work matters.
Throughout your internship, you will be paired with:
- An Indigenous Mentor within the business to provide cultural guidance, connection and leadership insight
- A Buddy in your immediate team to support you with day-to-day questions and workplace navigation
- A Coach to guide your development, performance and long-term career planning
You’ll receive regular feedback, professional development opportunities and clarity on potential pathways into a Graduate role.
Connectivity & Community
Alongside formal mentoring and on-the-job learning, you will have opportunities to:
- Connect with First Nations leadership and employee networks
- Build relationships with Senior Leaders and peers across the organisation
- Strengthen skills in storytelling, listening and authentic leadership
The program is designed to foster belonging, cultural connection and professional growth.
Program Eligibility
Our First Nations Program is right for you if:
- You are of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent
- You are ideally a penultimate year student (expecting to graduate in 2027), however flexibility applies
- Students from all disciplines are encouraged to apply.
Internship start: June or November 2026, however can be flexible
Tax and other benefits/implications
Internship payments will contribute to the recipient’s taxable income and may also impact entitlement to Commonwealth benefits such as ABSTUDY. The Internship applicants and/or recipients are encouraged to contact Centrelink, the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and/or their taxation agent to obtain advice about the implications of the Internship payments on current earnings and benefits.
