Do you want to help some of the largest, most interesting organisations in the world imagine, deliver and run the future?

In response to the growing demand for our market leading M&A Integration and Separation services, we are looking to hire problem solvers to join our team in Melbourne and Sydney, delivering market leading advice and practical solutions that make a material impact to our clients, our people and society.

If you are looking for an opportunity to take your career to the next level and gain exposure to the world of mergers and acquisitions, then our team provides you with the perfect opportunity to get involved in a variety of M&A transactions. We support some of Australia’s most iconic transactions across private equity and corporate Australia.

We invest in our people, so you will have access to leading training and development opportunities, allowing you to develop both personally and technically.

About the team
We know that Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) are a huge deal for businesses, so whether the focus is on growth through acquisitions or increasing shareholder value through strategic divestments, we support clients from start to finish. Our M&A Integration and Separation team focus on deal execution and implementation, as well as due diligence and pre-deal analysis. We provide end-to-end support for our clients during sell-side separations and buy-side integrations, with a focus on increasing growth and value. Join our like-minded and supportive team in navigating clients through complex deal processes.

What will your typical day look like?

You will grow and develop yourself in providing advice to Deloitte’s vast portfolio of clients – from private, international and national corporations to private equity firms – in the assessment of potential merger synergies and carve-outs, and stand-alone performance improvements.

You will help them realise the true strategic and operational capability of acquisitions. This will have you involved in planning and implementing integration and separation projects as the result of M&A activity.

As a member of our team, you will also be involved with:

  • Financial analysis and due diligence for the proposed transaction

  • Preparation of acquisition / carve out business cases for review by key stakeholders

  • Development and delivery of integration / separation strategies to extract maximum value from the transaction

  • Provide programme management support of large-scale transactions

  • Support the development of key transaction documents e.g. Transitional Service Agreements and Executive Board Reports

  • Assist with the execution of the transaction, including blueprinting and Day-1 (Completion) readiness planning

  • Coaching junior staff to operationalise the deal process for clients through knowledge of the M&A lifecycle and excellent project management skills

Enough about us, let’s talk about you.
You are someone with:

  • Ideally a bachelor’s degree or post graduate qualification

  • Advisory/consulting experience, ideally from a Big 4, tier 2 or boutique consulting firm or the internal strategy function of a large corporate

  • Familiarity with the broader deal-oriented process and environment

  • Excellent financial and analytical skills

  • Articulate communication and confident presentation skills

  • Pragmatic commercial acumen – able to identify risks and develop solutions to manage those risks

  • Ability and willingness to deal with ambiguity and change

  • Previous programme management experience on complex/large projects
