What will your typical day look like?   

Joining the Deloitte Legal team, you’ll get to learn and experience first-hand how we provide clients with trusted advice for their business operations across a broad and growing portfolio of legal services. Focusing mainly on tax issues as part of the dispute lifecycle you will be required to work closely with clients and barristers to assist clients with detailed tax technical submissions, court processes and cross-border disputes with other regulators in various jurisdictions. 

Our legal graduate program is a twelve month program designed to help graduates hone their skills across a diverse portfolio of issues to ensure a rewarding and rich experience. The potential to work across various areas of law outside tax including corporate and commercial, employment law, intellectual property and climate law enables graduates to undertake meaningful work across a number of different practice areas.

 

You will gain experience that sets you apart as you work with a variety of top-tier clients ranging from multinational corporations, through to high net-worth individuals.  You will be exposed to a range of tasks including: 

  • Preparing evidence files and submissions  
  • Conducting research to support advice on a range of matters  
  • Preparing for proceedings in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, Federal or State Courts 
  • Commercial drafting  
  • Working with regulators such as the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) or Treasury

We’re a fast-growing and dynamic legal team within the Tax & Legal business unit of Deloitte. We provide top-quality, practical legal advice that’s tailored to our clients’ unique circumstances and pride ourselves on delivering a highly technical product in a commercially minded way.

As a bright, ambitious and incredibly hard-working student, you’ll also be: 

  • In your final year or have completed a law degree 
  • An excellent communicator – you’re articulate and possess strong writing skills  
  • Love being part of a team and working collaboratively  
  • Naturally curious and good at problem-solving 
  • An Australian/New Zealand Citizen or a Permanent Resident of Australia
