What will your typical day look like?
Our business is growing, and we are seeking an experienced Data & AI Specialist Lead to join our team. The role is responsible for setting the strategic direction and delivering enterprise-scale data and analytics capabilities. You will be interfacing accross one or multiple client accounts alongside multi diciplinary teams

Our Engineering as a Service practice consists of a diverse mix of skilled and experienced managed services personnel providing differentiated Cloud, Platform, Infrastructure, and Data and AI Managed Services for leading edge technology transformation projects in steady state. Our team is responsible for providing our clients with the highest level of customer support services by using modern service management frameworks and leading operational tooling.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead design, build, and optimisation of data engineering pipelines, AI integration services, and analytics platforms.
- Drive adoption of best practices for cloud-native data workloads across Azure and AWS.
- Provide hands-on development support for high-priority and complex projects.
- Ensure solutions meet performance, security, and compliance standards.
- Azure: Functions, DevOps CI/CD pipelines, Azure Data Factory integration.
- AWS: Lambda, EC2, Redshift, S3, CloudWatch configuration and monitoring.
- ETL & Data Integration: Develop and maintain ETL workflows using Azure Data Factory, Talend, Fivetran, Informatica and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
- Manage data ingestion, transformation, and synchronisation processes across multiple systems.
- Deliver interactive dashboards and analytics using Power BI, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), and IBM Cognos Analytics.
- Support AI-driven insights by integrating advanced analytics and machine learning models into reporting layers.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering skill growth and technical excellence.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, refine user stories, and align technical solutions to business goals.
- Act as a technical escalation point for the Data & AI engineering team.
- Continuously assess emerging Microsoft technologies and integrate them into the managed services offering where appropriate.
- Participate in pre-sales engagements, proposals, and solution design when Azure expertise is required.
- Contribute to recruitment and workforce planning to ensure a high-performing Azure capability.
Essential:
- Proven experience in a senior or lead data engineering role.
- Lead, mentor, and coach a high-performing data engineering and analytics team, fostering technical excellence and professional growth.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business value.
- Strong proficiency in Azure (Functions, DevOps) and AWS (Lambda, EC2, Redshift, S3, CloudWatch).
- Hands-on experience with ETL tools: Azure Data Factory, Talend, Fivetran, SSIS.
- Hands on experience and working knowledge of other data platforms including Databricks, Snowflake, Teradata
- Expertise in relational databases including PostgreSQL and SQL Server.
- Expertise in SQL development and optimisation.
- Experience delivering enterprise-scale reporting solutions with Power BI, SSRS, and IBM Cognos Analytics.
- Strong understanding of data modelling, data warehousing, and analytics architectures.
Desirable:
- Exposure to AI/ML pipelines and model deployment practices.
- Familiarity with data governance and security best practices.
- ITIL Foundation or equivalent service management knowledge.
Work Entitlement
Due to the nature of the clients this role will be working with, you must be an Australian Citizen and must be willing to undertake the Australian Government Security Vetting process.
