From your first week, you'll be contributing to economic analysis and policy advice that shapes decisions affecting industries, governments, communities and future generations. Through our Vacationer Program, you'll spend your summer working alongside some of Australia's leading economists, building real analytical skills while gaining a genuine feel for life at Deloitte.
What will your typical day look like?
Over the course of your internship, you'll be working across projects that span the full policy lifecycle, from economic forecasting and modelling through to evaluation, strategy and implementation advice. You'll be part of a like-minded Vacationer cohort, guided by experienced economists and policy advisers who take your development seriously.
As a Vacationer in the Deloitte Access Economics team, you’ll:
- Contribute to applied economic research and quantitative analysis across areas such as health, education, transport, energy and macroeconomics
- Help translate complex economic modelling and policy analysis into clear, persuasive advice for government and institutional decision-makers
- Work on projects that inform public debate, shape government investment and influence long-term policy reform
As well as learning in the flow of work, you'll be part of our structured Vacationer Program. You'll have a dedicated buddy, access to networking and social events, and the opportunity to be considered for an early graduate offer.
About the team
Deloitte Access Economics is one of Australia's most respected economics advisory practices, sitting within the Strategy, Risk & Transactions business. The team works at the intersection of rigorous analysis and real-world decision-making, supporting governments and institutions to tackle complex policy challenges across areas including economic reform, productivity, education, health, social outcomes, agriculture, technology, media, telecommunications, tourism, transport, energy and climate, mining and resources, and macroeconomics. You'll be joining a team that values learning, collaboration and diverse thinking, with a genuine commitment to early-career development through coaching, buddy support and hands-on project experience. The team work closely together, giving you exposure to a broad range of engagements from your first week.
Enough about us, let's talk about you.
We're seeking penultimate-year students to join our Vacationer Program.
You'll also be studying towards or have completed a relevant degree in Economics/ Econometrics, Public Policy, or a related qualification. For our Health sector work, degrees in Health Service Management, Health Information Management, Public Health, Health Sciences or a related qualification are also relevant. Postgraduate qualifications in relevant fields will be looked upon favourably.
You may have all or some of the following:
- Curiosity and a genuine interest in learning
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Have strong analytical and quantitative skills
- Demonstrate experience in economic research or applied economic analysis developed through your degree
- Interest in economic analysis, public policy and applied research
- Comfort asking questions and learning through feedback
- Alignment with Deloitte's values and inclusive culture
