This is a Canberra-based Senior Manager role in our Operations & Transformation team, where you'll help Defence and government clients solve complex operational problems and deliver meaningful change.

What will your typical day look like?

From operating model design through to process improvement, service design and transformation delivery, you'll lead work that helps clients improve how their organisations run. That could mean shaping strategic recommendations, guiding hypothesis-driven analysis, or turning complex findings into clear actions for senior stakeholders.

A big part of the role is building trusted relationships with Defence and public sector clients as they navigate critical operational priorities. You'll bring structure to ambiguity, lead teams through fast-moving project environments, and help clients make confident decisions that improve performance and long-term capability.

Working closely with Partners, Directors and multidisciplinary teams, you'll have the scope to lead workstreams, mentor team members, and contribute to business development activity. The pace is varied, the problems are complex, and the work gives you real influence over outcomes for clients that matter to Australia.

About the team

Deloitte's Operations & Transformation team works with major public sector organisations, including Defence, on some of their most important operational and transformation challenges. Within Tech & Transformation, the team brings together strategy, design and delivery capability to help clients improve performance, modernise services, and deliver practical change at scale.

You may have all or some of the following skills/experiences:

• Experience leading complex projects in a client-facing or advisory environment, either in-house or in consulting

• Strong problem solving skills, including hypothesis-driven analysis and turning insights into clear recommendations

• Experience in areas such as operating model design, process improvement, service design, or digital transformation

• The ability to build trusted relationships with senior clients and stakeholders across complex environments

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including facilitation and presenting complex ideas clearly

• Experience leading and mentoring teams, while creating an inclusive and high-performing team environment

• Exposure to business development activity, including contributing to proposals or client materials

• Minimum AGSVA NV1 clearance
