What will your typical day look like?

At Deloitte, no two days are alike. Our day-to-day varies across client engagements, business development initiatives.   The successful candidate will be responsible for executing on programs of work that will ultimately build, test and enhance the Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) management for our clients.
 

Your role as a market and client-facing Health Safety and Wellbeing Senior Manager, will be to manage dynamic projects and lead multi-disciplinary teams to solve your clients' most complex and strategic HSW issues including, for example, consulting projects to: 
•    Embed proactive leadership and culture on a range of risk and regulatory management priorities
•    Establish improved ways of working within desired operating models for HSW
•    Design and implement HSW strategies, assurance programs, management systems, performance and reporting frameworks
•    Develop and implement psychosocial risk management frameworks that align with regulatory requirements and organisational objectives
•    Profile and mitigate physical and psychosocial risks
•    Conduct audit and assurance of HSW practices
•    Support the identification and implementation of HSW technology solutions
•    Present insights and recommendations to Senior Management and Executive stakeholders

As a Team Leader
•    Lead high performing project teams and manage individual performance at a project level

•    Contribute to the culture and development of wider team of peers outside of a project environment and mentor junior staff as they develop their careers 
•    Play a passionate and meaningful role in developing the careers of team members by enhancing their governance, risk and compliance capabilities
•    Provide strategic leadership in developing industry-leading HSW solutions across physical and psychological health and safety risks

Business growth
•    Manage projects with responsibility for quality, client service and project financials
•    Invest time building relationships and profile in the market and in the Firm
•    Contribute to the development of the business by taking an authentic interest in the challenging problems faced by existing and new clients
•    Lead the development of thought leadership, industry frameworks and best practices that inform Deloitte’s service offerings

About the team
As a HSW Senior Manager in our National team of specialists, you will be engaging in project work with government and private sector clients nationally to support organisations protect their people at work, navigate complex HSW requirements, and create sustainable improvements in HSW performance. 

 

In addition to our bespoke HSW capabilities, our team is an integral part of our broader Risk and Regulation Consulting practice within Deloitte’s Strategy, Risk & Transactions (SRT) business.  
We empower our clients to navigate complex challenges and uncover opportunities to create value and competitive advantage while also building organisational trust and resilience for the long run.

Enough about us, let’s talk about you. 
You may have all or some of the following essential and desirable skills / experience:

Technical background (essential)
•    A tertiary qualification/degree in Work Health and Safety, Organisational Psychology or equivalent
•    Minimum 8 years of experience in HSW leadership, consulting or operational HSW management
•    A proven track record in project management and business development with the ability to prioritise, plan and deliver simultaneous projects
•    Experience with a variety of industries is crucial
Desirable
•    Strong knowledge of Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation, regulations, codes of practice, models and management systems
•    Strong knowledge of psychosocial risk management, including the design of assessment tools, control frameworks and regulatory compliance strategies toward meeting, Respect@Work, Safe Work Australia guidelines and global best practices
•    This role involves navigating through complex scenarios with a degree of ambiguity and requires resilience and adaptability. This position is based in either Canberra or Sydney offices and offers wide-ranging professional experience covering local, regional and national projects across all industry sectors, with the potential for international engagements.
