About the team
Deloitte’s Analytics & AI practice is a diverse team comprised of experts across strategy, insight advisory, data engineering, mission engineering, systems engineering, data science and automation. We have a dedicated focus on solving business problems for our clients. About the role
We are seeking a motivated and technically capable Mission Engineering Analyst to support modelling, simulation, and operations research activities within our Mission Engineering team. Working under the guidance of the Senior Mission Engineering Manager, this role contributes to the analysis and development of Defence systems using digital engineering and simulation tools. The ideal candidate will have a strong quantitative background and a passion for solving complex Defence problems using computational and analytical techniques.
This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to projects or national significance including defence, critical infrastructure and national resilience, in a new and exciting area of practice, leveraging state-of-the-art engineering practices and technologies. We’re looking for candidates with a combination of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Operations Research or a related technical discipline.
- Up to 4 years’ experience (including postgraduate study) in a relevant technical role.
- Basic knowledge of modelling and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python, AnyLogic, or similar).
- Familiarity with operations research, decision analysis, or system dynamics methods.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a systems-thinking mindset.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working in Defence, aerospace, or similarly complex technical domains.
- Knowledge of MBSE concepts and how simulation integrates into system architectures.
- Understanding of Defence operational concepts and capability development processes.
- Postgraduate qualification (completed or in progress) in a relevant discipline.
- Experience working within agile or iterative project environments.
- Able to obtain a security clearance up to a NV1 level, and desirably an active clearance.
What you will be doing
- Contribute to the design, development, and execution of models and simulations to support mission and system analysis.
- Apply operations research methods to assess system performance and support decision-making.
- Support integration of modelling and simulation outputs into broader systems engineering activities.
- Assist in conducting mission-level analyses to evaluate alternative concepts, architectures, and operational scenarios.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver modelling support for system-of-systems projects.
- Document modelling assumptions, methods, and results in technical reports and presentations.
- Continuously develop expertise in digital engineering, modelling tools, and Defence operational environments.
