Network Systems Engineer

What your typical day will look like:
- Provide internal or external customer and partner support via ITSM Portal, email, and phone, as well as onsite from time to time as required.
- Work as part of a team to complete assignments and tasks providing maintenance, administration, testing, troubleshooting, and diagnostics support for customers’ environments, liaising with internal and external stakeholders as appropriate.
- Manage private cloud networking, interconnectivity, and hybrid integrations (public cloud, MPLS, SD-WAN).
- Support network designs for new deployments, migrations, and client onboarding.
- Ensure high availability, redundancy, and disaster recovery for data center network infrastructure.
- Use Elastic stack and other observability tools for proactive network monitoring, log analysis, and performance tuning.
- Define and implement dashboards, alerts, and reporting for network health and SLAs.
- Assist and respond to urgent requests and escalations, seeking assistance pro-actively as required.
- Communicate with internal and/or external key stakeholders to ensure they remain informed.
- Maintain a high standard of technical deliverables, meeting or exceeding agreed outcomes, and service level agreements.
- Write or assist with writing detailed design and build documentation, ensuring that it is reviewed for accuracy and compliance to standards and policies.
- Escalate support issues to management in a timely manner and be familiar with escalation processes.
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of services, standards, processes, and procedures.
- Implement and maintain security controls and policies aligned with organisational and industry standards.
- Monitor and remediate vulnerabilities across network devices and services.
- Partner with security team to support compliance (ISO27001, SOC2, IRAP or equivalent frameworks).
- Participate in on-call rotations and escalation processes.
- Provide input into governance forums, risk registers, and service improvement initiatives.

Our Engineering as a Service Practice consists of a diverse mix of skilled and experienced managed services professionals providing differentiated DevOps and Cloud Support services for leading edge technology. This team is responsible for providing our clients with the highest level of customer support services by using modern service management frameworks.
Our business is growing and we’re on the look-out for a Network Systems Engineer to join the team.

You may have all or some of the following skills/experience:
Skills/ Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Network Engineer in private cloud or enterprise data center environments.
- Strong hands-on expertise in:
- Fortinet (FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer).
- Palo Alto (firewalls, Panorama, security services).
- Aruba (switching, ClearPass, wireless).
- Cisco routing/switching (Nexus, Catalyst, ISR/ASR).
- Understanding of Elastic Stack (ELK) for network monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Experience with BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VXLAN, SD-WAN, and VPN technologies.
- Strong knowledge of network security, segmentation, and access control.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting complex network and performance issues.
- Familiarity with automation tools (Python, Ansible, Terraform).
- Exposure to cloud networking (AWS VPC, Azure VNETs, ExpressRoute, Direct Connect).
- Knowledge of load balancing, DNS, and proxy services.
- Experience with ITIL processes (incident, change, and problem management).
- Certifications such as CCNP/CCIE, PCNSE, NSE (Fortinet), Aruba Certified Professional.
The successful applicant must be an Australian citizen and must have or be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the NV2 level.
