Join our Operations & Transformation team in Canberra and step into a Manager role where you'll help Defence clients solve complex operational challenges while growing your leadership career in a high-impact environment.

What will your typical day look like?

Working closely with Defence leaders, you'll lead and deliver transformation work across areas like capability management, procurement, policy, governance and operational improvement. The role blends problem solving with delivery, whether you're shaping advice, managing project outcomes, or helping clients navigate priorities within there domain.

Your work will support some of Defence's most pressing priorities, helping clients make better decisions, improve how work gets done, and deliver outcomes that have broader national significance. This is the kind of role where strong judgement, clear communication and structured thinking all matter.

As a Manager, you'll work closely with Partners, Directors and broader project teams while building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders. Expect a mix of leadership, client engagement and hands-on delivery, with enough variety to keep the work challenging and interesting.

About the team

Deloitte's Operations & Transformation team sits within Tech & Transformation and works with major public sector clients on complex transformation challenges. In Canberra, the team supports Defence and national security clients on work spanning operational excellence, capability, governance and delivery - combining deep sector context with practical advice that helps clients move from strategy into action.

Enough about us, let's talk about you

You may have all or some of the following skills/experiences:

• Experience working within, or consulting to, the Australian Department of Defence or broader national security environment

• An AGSVA NV1 clearance and Australian Citizenship

• Experience in project management, analysis or delivery within the One Defence Capability System

• Capability in developing procurement advice for Commonwealth agencies

• Experience designing or uplifting Defence or national security policy and governance arrangements

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build trusted stakeholder relationships

• Analytical skills and the ability to synthesise findings into clear, practical outputs such as reports and recommendations

• Prior consulting experience and a proactive, curious mindset would be beneficial
