About the team

Deloitte’s Analytics & AI practice is a diverse team comprised of experts across strategy, insight advisory, data engineering, mission engineering, systems engineering, data science and automation. We have a dedicated focus on solving business problems for our clients.  Our services range from helping clients understand the potential of Analytics & AI through to designing and implementing solutions.  We constantly evaluate new technologies, experiment with new techniques and create leading-edge data and analytics assets that can be used by our clients and practitioners to drive success with Analytics & AI. About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Mission Engineering Manager to join our team, focusing on delivering advanced digital and mission engineering solutions for the Australian Defence Force. This role requires leading multi-disciplinary teams in the analysis, design, implementation, and integration of enterprise systems and system-of-systems. The ideal candidate will possess a solid foundation in systems engineering and demonstrate expertise in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Digital Engineering.

This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to projects or national significance including defence, critical infrastructure and national resilience, in a new and exciting area of practice, leveraging state-of-the-art engineering practices and technologies. We’re looking for candidates with a combination of the following:   

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 4 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Proven experience in architecture modelling and elicitation for complex systems and large-scale system of systems development.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical work in complex, multi-disciplinary, and ambiguous situations.
  • Experience leading engineers and analysts in conducting complex systems, system-of-systems, or mission engineering analyses.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, alongside critical thinking abilities.
  • Experience integrating models across modelling and simulation applications for detailed analysis.
  • Knowledge of digital engineering and operational analysis processes and tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop approaches utilising modern systems engineering methods.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven track record of developing trusted relationships with senior leaders.
  • Able to obtain a security clearance up to a NV2 level, and desirably an active NV1 clearance.

What you will be doing

  • Lead teams to analyse, design, implement, and integrate complex enterprise systems and system-of-systems.
  • Provide thought leadership and expertise in MBSE, Digital Engineering, and Mission Engineering for the development and evaluation of Defence systems.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of digital models to support system integration and acquisition.
  • Apply systems engineering expertise across lifecycle phases, including requirements analysis, architecture development, risk assessment, and test and evaluation.
  • Champion new systems engineering capabilities and processes focused on Digital Engineering and Digital Mission Engineering.
  • Develop and employ capabilities of current MBSE and modelling and simulation tools to address critical Defence problems.
  • Drive internal and external research opportunities in cutting-edge engineering fields.
