Through our services, we help our clients understand, engage with and act on their sustainability-related risks and opportunities. 

 

About our Climate Risk and Resilience Practice 

 

Our highly diverse and multi-disciplinary team combines deep subject matter expertise, strategic thinking, and data and technology to meet the equally diverse and fast-evolving needs of our clients.  

 

The team are focussed on working with government and public sector to help support, design, implement, and enhance Commonwealth policy and programs. The broader practice’s experience and expertise spans Climate Risk and Emissions Analytics and Reporting; Program Risk and Governance; Crisis Management; Complex Reviews and post-Review Implementation; Research Advisory Services; and Data Analytics and Modelling.

 

The subject matter itself spans climate reporting frameworks and compliance; climate risk and opportunity assessments + implementation plans, strategies and roadmaps; scopes 1, 2 and 3 emissions analysis, governance and reporting; a range of modelling services spanning energy, environment, and climatic systems; leading complex and sensitive government reviews; risk and governance advisory services; and program design and implementation services. 

 

This role is Canberra based. As you may be required to work onsite for extended periods of time and on a range of sensitive matters, you will ideally hold a minimal level baseline clearance, preferably an NV1. Consideration may be given to exceptional candidates who do not hold a current clearance, but you must be eligible to obtain one.

 

What will your typical day look like?

 

We are looking for an experienced senior director to join our practice based in Canberra, Australia.  In your role you will be part of a team delivering innovative solutions to government clients with the opportunity to work closely with our local, regional and global teams.  

 

In addition to the baseline security clearance requirements mentioned above, you will have 10 years + demonstrable management consulting experience, with preferred experience working with senior levels across government. Federal government experience will be highly regarded, as will project management, stakeholder engagement, technology and digitisation skills – especially as demonstrated in the climate change context. You will have strong networks and relationships and be highly regarded by your key clients.

 

You will be part of a leading practice working with the best clients with the guarantee of no day being the same. Your role will include: 

 

  • Leading, shaping, and delivering engagements for a range of government clients, predominately focussed on Federal Government portfolios.
  • Leading teams that are delivering engagements that relate to climate risk and resilience; climate reporting and disclosure; environmental, energy, and agricultural programs; carbon and nature markets; and disaster management.
  • Targeted specialisation in one or more of the following: risk and governance, PMO, strategy, program design and implementation.
  • Supporting the development of innovative solutions leveraging data and technology and the best of Deloitte’s global IP. 
  • Growing our business as measured by impact, sales, and outcomes.

You will bring a strong grasp of climate advisory services, along with expertise in working with or for government entities. You will bring a strong passion to make a difference for our clients and in both supporting and enhancing governments with their mandate. Required skills and experience: 

  • 10 years+ demonstrable management consulting experience working with governments or clearly demonstrated transferrable skills relating to working with industry, non-profit or private sector clients on topics relating to climate and/or sustainability.
  • A proven and evidence-based track record of strong relational networks across your key clients.
  • A proven and evidence-based track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets relative to a senior consulting role.
  • A proven and evidence-based track record of successfully leading diverse teams to achieve their goals, deliver enhanced outcomes, and grow their careers in meaningful ways.
  • A proven track record of engaging with, as well as shaping and advising on the public policy landscape, including: regulatory frameworks, machinations of government, and achieving mandate to deliver meaningful outcomes through program delivery.
  • A bachelors degree or equivalent (discipline is open), with a passion to apply your expertise to real world client problems. 
  • A proven track record of strong analytical skills, and be able to effectively draw insights from research and data to support inform solutions for clients. 
  • The ability, drive and determination to methodically work through complex problems at speed and synthesise into clear and impactful communications, without forsaking quality.
