About our team  
Deloitte’s Cloud and Engineering Practice helps clients realise the potential of transformational capabilities to solve their most challenging issues. We improve their agility and resilience and identify opportunities to optimise their technology usage. We also accelerate our clients towards a technology-driven future, by implementing vendor solutions as well as Deloitte-developed software solutions and tools. 

What will your typical day look like?  

• Collaboration with delivery stakeholders to define the scope of test automation and performance testing.   

• Develop and implement automation-first testing strategies aligned with project and client goals. 

• Lead the selection and implementation of automation tools and frameworks (including establishing frameworks from scratch where needed). 

• Oversee the creation and execution of automated test scripts, ensuring accuracy and efficiency, providing hands-on support to the team. 

• Provide leadership and mentorship to automation testers (typically 5-10 team members), ensuring adherence to best practices. 

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and continuously improve testing processes including recommending enhancements to existing client automation frameworks. 

The ideal candidate will have skills in the following categories: 

Interpersonal Skills: 

Effective communication skills including the ability to explain automation value and benefits to clients to gain buy-in. 

Strong analytical skills with a curious and inquisitive mindset. 

Analytical Skills: 

• Ability to independently develop and implement test automation scripts and guide others in doing so. 

• Proficiency in analysing test results and identifying areas for improvement in automation frameworks, coverage, and execution efficiency. 

Technical Proficiency: 

• Proficiency in integrating test automation with common source control and build management tools. 

• Understanding of system architecture and performance-related factors. 

• Proficient in scripting and automating test scenarios. 

• Proficiency in Java, TypeScript, JavaScript, and/or Python programming, including reviewing automation test code. 

• Proficiency integrating automation tooling with test reporting solutions (e.g., dashboards, execution reporting, CI reporting). 

Role-specific Skills: 

• Over 3 years of relevant work experience as a Lead / Manager with a deep understanding of test automation testing tools and methodologies. 

• Proven experience leading automation delivery, including implementing or improving automation frameworks (from scratch and/or existing client frameworks). 

• Development of test automation scripts for System Test and Systems Integration Test, ensuring traceability to requirements. 

• Hands-on experience with Tricentis Tosca (must-have). 

• Ability to assess client/project needs and select appropriate tools and approaches across engagements. 

• Preparation of test data for automation testing. 

• Accurate reporting on test automation execution and coverage. 

• Experience with agile testing methodologies. 

Desirable Skills: 

• Proficiency in API (Application Program Interface), UI (user interfaces), and Mobile test automation. 

• Experience with or exposure to additional automation tools such as Karate, WebdriverIO, Playwright, and/or UiPath 

• Experience with AI-assisted testing/automation tooling, or a strong interest in developing capability in this area.
